Hi everyone, I just got a 2021 trd sport and the OEM radio is doesn't have HD radio , but it has Carplay and Android Auto and XM . but I'm not happy that it doesn't have HD radio, Does any one know if you can just swap out the radio for an OEM one with HD ? is it programed to the vin or can it be just a straight swap , I really dont want to swap it out for an aftermarket radio.

    Thanks
    Pino

I feel like toyota went cheap on this. When I had my 16 Sport all the TRD models came with the navigation HD radio and it was great. Now this radio doesnt have navigation or HD radio and I find Andriod auto to be complete garbage.

There are some things that are tied to the VIN. Like the cellular remote options. Everything else on the radio will work normally.

Can the Toyota part 86140-04200 w/HD Radio be retrofit into the 2021 TRD Sport?

I haven't used the radio in my truck yet... I've had it for almost 2 years too. I sometimes connect my phone to the infotainment system using bluetooth

Wait, they took out HD radio? Wtf, why would they take out HD radio? I loved HD radio when I used the factory radio in my truck (though I hated when it would switch back and forth between HD and SD) But when you had a good signal it was great.

I’ll trade you the Premium Headunit with HD Radio from my 2016 TRD straight up.
