Already made a plan to do that when you first mentioned them. I appreciate it!

these are the Size 4 plugs on the front (outer) side of the frame. I pulled 4 of them, and then could push out the Size 5 plugs on the backside (inner) without damaging them.

They are part number 90950-01987 “plug / Hole / Size 4”

    https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem/toyota~plug~hole~90950-01987.html

I used 4. There are two more closer to the very front end of the frame, but that area is very high up, and looking with my inspection camera, seemed clean and dry, likely due to engine heat.

I don’t think my 2016 has a fitting there. That looks like one of the locations I use to stuff my 2’ extension wand for FF into.

I don’t want to know about mud or junk. Next time I have the hose out I’ll try and wash it it. I typically just load up on FF yearly.

Got to say, I am not thrilled about the topic of the thread, but thanks for everyone who shared their lessons learned. I am definitely one of those who got this truck to drive it forever. Guess I have a few more reasons to get under there and work now. Plus I have to put my plastic cap back on now after the last mod (darn).

Just an update to this thread. The OEM rectangle plugs are made of brittle plastic and might break/chip when removed no matter how careful you are. And for what they are the plugs are overpriced IMO.

I removed my plugs last December to flush some mud out but instead of the rectangle plugs I placed a piece of black Gorilla tape over each hole. I made sure the surface was clean and the tape is still doing its job.

But I discovered an even better solution to replace the OEM rectangle plugs. Gorilla makes a tape in black called "Waterproof Patch & Seal Tape" used for roofing. Its very sticky, is about 1/16" thick and I have no doubt is a better solution than the brittle OEM rectangle plugs. Just make sure the frame surface is clean (clean/wipe with Simple Green or 409), cut the Patch & Seal to correct size and apply.
