I am currently in the market for a used Tacoma, preferably a bit older 2003-2008. Most of what I found within my price range has between 160,000-200,000 miles. I decided to go with Tacoma for its notorious long life span and reliability. Any suggestions on what I should look out for and how many miles is too many when purchasing used? Thanks.

Well you can go that route if you want to... or you could consider something else. I guess it depends on what you have to spend, and what you want to get for your money, of course.

Find something without a ton of rust. These trucks are practically indestructible so mileage is irrelevant. I say find a totaled one and rebuild it since that’s a popular trend nowadays

I've personally purchased 4 different used Tacomas through my life and none of them have had below 160k miles. My current tacoma has 315,000. All had V6's. All 4x4's.

I hope you find a good one!

These are great Trucks but you need to keep after them.

Every Vehicle is different and needs to be inspected and driven before reaching for the Check Book.

Do you plan to do the majority of the work yourself it is not uncommon to spend $1000.00 in parts catching up on neglected maintenance. An older Truck is just not Cost Effective if your paying Labor for every single job.

Unless you don`t see winter chemicals or drive in Salt Water your frame needs constant attention every year.

Some people will dump 3.4`s when a timing belt is due figure another $1000.00 into the cost.
