Two months into owning a nice ass 2013 Trd sport and today I was rear ended by some girl texting and driving. (She was going ~40mph) Was planning out all my mods and have to say I am HAPPY I didn’t do anything yet for the sake of insurance coverage but man is it a sad day to see your taco babe all beat up :(
This is a vent post but hey “you shoulda seen the other guy” ‍♂️

Now you can buy a nice high clearance rear bumper!

Texting/driving and probably wearing her Covid mask up over her eyes like most scared millennials driving down the road by themselves ... cracks me up.

In all honesty, you came out of that one with minimal damage really, especially given the state of her car, gratz on new parts!

Not gonna lie I’ve always questioned the integrity of the stock bumpers being what appears to be steel and all. Nice to see they can take a hit. I’d be more bummed about my bumper sticker that sits where you got hit.

I got cut off in my Jeep a few years back and ended up hitting this girl in a mini van right in the side of it (She merged into my lane to immediately try and make an illegal u turn in the middle of a median). They covered my aftermarket front bumper and the KC lights I had on it. Not sure how that varies between insurance companies however.

Nah, this will help your mods. You can use insurance money to buy the stuff you wanted. New rear aftermarket bumper, aftermarket tail lights. All good

I had a similar incident. Pushed rear bumper up some into rear fender. Not too bad. The other car was toast.

Looks like you came out ahead. Sorry, I bet it's a headache having to deal with insurance. Your truck will live.

As long as you have no frame damage, that's not too bad! If it were me I'd have a body shop repair the tailgate and use the rest of the funds for a high clearance rear bumper.

You might feel better once you get a free rear bumper out of this. :)

Make sure they thoroughly inspect your frame!

You will get 100 people saying "no way there's frame damage." Never know until you get under there and inspect/measure it.

I feel your pain. No frame damage on mine, OP. Hopefully yours is okay too.

Only a fair trade to be allowed to rear end her (consensually of course) as hard as she rear-ended him
