Undercover Flex Ulta Deck Rail Issue

I have a 3rd Gen Sport 4x4 6’ bed and just installed the Flex Ultra cover. Didn’t realize it covers the whole deck rail and renders it useless. Didn’t do my research well enough. So, I’ve been trying to find a way to get the use of the deck rail system back.

I’ve seen some people add a D-ring to the bolts that anchor the cover to the deck rail system. But I want the flexibility to use the factory cleats. So, I was thinking, what if I buy another set of deck rails and install the new deck rails onto the bolts that anchor the cover into the original deck rail? Has anyone done this?
