We bought a 2019 Expedition XLT FX4. It has single handedly changed my opinion of the brand. I realize that there are still a lot of Ford models that I would not drive, but the 3.5L EcoBoost is solid.

We average 18-19 mpg around town and about 21 on the highway. My best ever on the highway was 24 mpg. If you get one with the middle bench, it can be converted to captains chairs by simply removing 4 (or maybe 6) bolts and pulling the middle seat out.

We do occasionally pull a trailer, so I wanted the ability to tow more than the Taco is rated to handle. Though I have not yet done it with the Expedition. Well, I have not towed a heavy trailer. It has some cool features for when a trailer is connected.

2018 and earlier have a plastic oil plug. If you do them yourself, I've read that it is good to have a spare as the plastic can become brittle and crack. The 2019 scrapped the plastic and went back to a bolt. You can imagine my frustration trying to find the drain plug when it looked nothing like the videos I was watching for how to change the oil in the new body style Expedition that was filmed with a 2018. I don't know anything about the 6 speed. We have the 10 speed. For the most part, it is smooth but we will occasionally get a rough shift. Though that is usually when we are downshifting on an incline (we live at the top of a "hill" so we slow down as we approach the house).

Plus, I love to step on the gas and hear the turbos whine!

From when I was looking, it seemed like all the non-FX4 packages had either 2A or 4A. The FX4 gives 2A, 4A, 4L and locked.

Something else that spoke volumes to the Expedition...my grandma drives one. She is on her second now with the 3.5L. She can afford to drive whatever she wants and has chosen to stick with the Expedition. That tells me that she likes the ride and there isn't much non-standard maintenance.

I do wish I had gotten the MAX version. I'll be looking into either trailer hitch storage or roof baskets soon enough.

A downside is the holding of resale. We decided that we didn't like the black after having it for a year. I looked into trading for a grey one and they wanted the trade plus $13k for a new identical unit that was ~20% off MSRP. So we're keeping this one til the wheels fall off. Speaking of the wheels...the factory Michelin tires suck in the rain. Can't wait to burn through them and get a proper AT tire.

The Morris 4x4 website gave me 2 different pop ups...One to save $30 and another to save 5%. Looks like it is in stock.

Otherwise, the rough country website shows an estimated ship date of tomorrow:
    Synthetic:https://www.roughcountry.com/pro-series-electric-winch-pro9500s.html
    Steel: https://www.roughcountry.com/pro-series-electric-winch-pro9500.html

4WP also came up as carrying them, so you could probably save on shipping by ordering through them.

If all things are equal, look to see about ordering through trailbuilt.com. I've talked to them a few times and they seem like good guys.

I'm still trying to decide if I want to get aftermarket wheels. Those who have do you notice any real advantages over oem? Power, mpg, etc? It's hard for me to justify such an expensive purchase just because I like the way it looks. I may be wrong but in my head a wider wheel that weights less would not be better than oem because of rolling resistance.

Get what you like aesthetically and fits size-wise.

Sure, a lighter wheel will handle/perform better than a heavier wheel, but these trucks are not driven on a track or purchased for optimum gas mileage.

Get what you like, enjoy it. Don't stress over the tiny numbers.

That's what I was thinking that it would be a tiny difference if any. I currently have a set of oem trd wheels that I plastidipped black with a set of toyo at3s that I'm gonna put on just for a different look. I was waiting until I wear out my current tires but I am gonna be trading them and to summitbound soon.

IMO wheels are just for looks. If you're one of those that really cares about "I want my truck to be as light as possible" people...it's a truck. You really aren't gonna get that good of mileage anyways so get what you like, if you like OEM wheels don't waste the money on aftermarket :notsure:

As I've gotten older I've become less fond of aftermarket items, wheels in particular. I like a look that could have conceivably come from the factory.

    There are some exceptions.

One option I'm looking at is the black rhino realm wheel which looks basically like the scs f5. The realm weights the same as oem wheels but scs weigh only 19 pounds. The black rhinos cost a good bit less per wheel. That adds up. But them I'm back at is getting the black rhino any better than keeping what I have? Haha

I've been doing the same, going back and forth on 255/80r17 with new wheels or just keep what I have. 33s and gloss gunmetal trd pro 4runner wheels will look sweet and still look semi-factory, but that's a lot of money for something to look cool when I have perfectly good tires already just in a smaller size, and I don't know that I will see any improvement off road or on.

That's my thoughts like will the extra money spent on scs wheels to get a wheel that's four pounds lighter ever be justified. I think the black rhino looks just as good.

I can get you 20 percent off of Black Rhino if you're interested. :)
They're great wheels. A partner of TSW. I had Black Rhino Mint wheels on my Tacoma before I got the TRD beadlock wheels.

Those look good too. The only 16 inch black rhinos that I really like are the stadium and realm. It says the stadium is 25 pounds and being rotary forged I expected then to be lighter kind of like the flow formed that fn does
