4WD vs. Locker

    Have a 2010 Prerunner, did not want the 4X4 and figured the locker would be of benefit for pulling boat up the ramps, etc. Wanted to try the locker so I backed down a slight incline beside the house, grass area, damp, with Georgia red clay. Without locker one wheel spun, OK, push the button, let the locker lock, then,,, both wheels spin on the grass, digging into the red clay. Attach rope to the car and pull the truck back up the hill. OK , it's not a 4X4 and will not do what my CJ7 would do. Still love the truck, but a 4X4 with lockers would have been better.

    This is the way that i saw it.. Whats a truck with out 4x4.. You did good cause you never know when the 4x4 will come in handy. Congrats!!!

    Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    ... ^^^ ... Explained very well ... that being said ... my 4x2 Prerunner OR (with locking rear diff.) has never left me stuck. ... :D

    I was always told the difference between 2wd and 4wd was the distance you have to walk to get a tow truck... but thats old school
