Just finished my side axle replacement and tie rod end. Glad it's done but the cockeatin sideaxle was a prick to come out and again to get seated in place. The tie rod end had to be heated to come off and it held on tight,I fought to get it off right to the last thread.
I hate mechanic work:mad: hope I don't have to replace anything any time soon.
Anyway it's off to get an alignment Monday. :fingerscrossed:

Did you remove the spindle when replacing the axle.
    Any advice on the process?
I’m getting ready to do the same thing basically.

As far as what I’ve done Not including regular maintenance.

    Rear axle seal
    Front wheel bearings
    Left brake light

    • First remove axle nut
    • Then remove outer tie rod end
    • Then remove the 2 bolts on either side of the lower ball joint
    • Then you can remove the axle from spindle and move spindle to the side
    • You might have to block it out of the way to give clearance
    • You should then be able to remove the side axle then. Make sure you have something to catch the oil in once you remove it
    • Then I put some grease on the end of my new side axle keep the clip opening facing down and carefully install the new axle make sure it goes all the way in.
    • Then reverse proceedure to reassemble.
    Good luck

No I didn't remove the sway bar link or the brake caliper or rotor. Just be careful of the brake line when you move the spindle.
And I did the job myself. The only assistance I needed was for my better half to apply the brakes while I torqued the axle nut back on.

2011 purchased brand new and meticulously maintained (everything). 140k currently.

3 door lock actuators (repair not replaced because f@$k Toyota’s pricing for the clamshell.)

    Steering wheel clockspring.

blower motor plug, resistor, and resistor plug.

    driver side LCA

    steering rack

All idler pulleys and tensioner pulley.

    a couple U-joints

    Transmission pan (my fault)

    3 sets of leaf springs,

2 headlights (replacements DRLs are melting too)

two speakers, another is blown and needs to be replaced.

    several dash lights.

the engine/wheel well liners have all ripped and need to be replaced.

At work we drove f150s to 200k with nothing but oil changes.

less than thrilled with that “Toyota” quality.

2010 tacoma trd off road access cab. It is a San Antonio built truck for those that care. 86400 on the clock. I bought it new in August 2010.

    Maintenance.
Pretty much follow the warranty maintenance guide but do the work myself.
-Oil and oil filter change every 5k
-Change Transfer case, front and rear diff fluid every 30k
    -Spark plugs every 30k.
-Air filters every 20k or as need. All the fires we had last summer really cut the life of the air filters.
-Probably will have the transmission flushed again at 90k
-Grease all the points every 5k or after off roading.
-i replaced the front brakes and rotors at 85k. The drums still have lots of life.

    Parts breakages
-Rear differential drive shaft u joint needed replaced at 45k. all the other u joints are still fine.
-The aux cord receptacle wore out and stopped working. Kind of sucks because i cant listen to music other than the radio and cd's. I am not really interested in changing out the head unit just to get bluetooth. I will probably replace the aux receptacle when i add my off road lighting switch.
-The normal exterior bulbs and headlights.
-Replaced my headlight assembles at 80k because they were very yellow and cracking.
-84k one of the front driver side lugnut studs broke. I replaced it on the spot. In an over abundance of caution i replaced all 24 studs when i did the front brakes at 85k.

    Things i added or modified.
-added a tailgate pop lock then removed it because it is a POS.
-Removed the backup camera and harness because I never use the camera. The harness made removing the tailgate annoying.
-went up to a 265/75/r16 sized tire.
-I was rear ended last year at a stop light. The only damage were some dents on the chrome bumper. I replaced the slightly dented rear bumper with a steel plate one.
-At 86k installed a 2.5 inch lift. bilsten 6112's/886 coil springs in the front, all pro uca's, bilsten 5120/all pro spring packs in the rear.
-added led ditch lights and fog lights
-after 10 years the factory toyota battery stopped holding a charge. I have no idea how that battery lasted that long.

So far no rust to speak of on the frame or else wear. For some reason my truck does qualify for the frame inspection or coating recall. I guess only certain 2010's were included. I did get the leaf spring replacement recall and had that done when the truck had 68k. I want to get an ARB front bumper and a winch. I also want rocksliders. After that i think it will be pretty much how i want it to be. It has been a good truck.

    06 DCSB 6MT
06 DCSB SR5 - bought it from a high school kid 2 years ago with 189,000 miles on it (US truck), now has 204.

First repair was reversing the muffler delete the previous owner had performed - bought the truck on a Saturday, bought and installed a new muffler on the Sunday. I must be getting old :p

Since then, removed and resealed the front ADD actuator, grinded out a bunch of stone chips and repainted the roof with duplicolour rattle cans, changed out front pads and rotors, changed gearbox oil (6 spd) for redline mt90, thought the front diff needle bearing was bad (turned out to be an upper ball joint) so changed front diff oil to redline 75w85 at that point, shop had changed the other upper ball joint when I took it for a safety so they have both been done now, changed out both front sway bar links, changed out sway bar bushings, bondoed the rear bumper to pass safety, replaced the alternator to fix a mystery battery drain issue, replaced passenger front hub assembly due to bad bearing, replaced rear shocks as one was leaking, welded a patch into the drivers floor due to rust, serpentine belt snapped one cold morning (on the way to get it undercoated) so shop replaced that - should have done it when I replaced the alternator!

    Other mods:
deleted the clutch accumulator (didn't notice much improvement tbh) and changed out the slave cylinder, replaced the Walker "oe replacement" muffler I first put on with an actual oe takeoff from another tw member. Failed safety for having the tailpipe cut off just after the axle hump (cough*bs*cough), reattached it with a v band so I can take it off again for wheeling, painted my wheels MGM then sold those and replaced them with flat black ones I bought off another member for the tires, permanently turned off the tpms light,
added tw spec splash guards, relocated rear diff breather, added a block heater, added a tonneau I got cheap from another member, added a 30 amp 12v outlet to the back of the centre console to power my air compressor and added a cb. Currently in the process of relocating my cb antenna.

    Still to do:
Rewire the light bar switch (added by previous owner) and add an auxiliary fuse box,
Check engine light is on for bad 02 sensor heater circuit - replaced the sensor so gotta be wiring or ecu at this point,
    Replace steering rack,
Replace drivers side hub since I have one sitting there and the seals need doing anyway,
    Replace passenger side hub seals,
Replace passenger front ABS sensor that I broke when doing the hub - hoping this will turn off the handbrake light too,
    Bleed the clutch again,
Clutch chirp is getting pretty bad so might have to eventually fix that for sanity's sake but otherwise like op said - ain't going in unless I have to! Previous owner told me he put a URD throwout bearing in it so it should be ok, just noisy. I have my doubts but we'll see how it goes,
Got a bunch of exhaust leaks which are starting to bug me too, will have to patch for next safety and would really rather just replace the cats and all but every time I look at the header bolts I just cringe and look away again lol,
The 4x4 light likes to flash at me periodically and I'm thinking it seems to be a loose connector somewhere so thinking about replacing part of the related wiring loom.
Would like to build a new back bumper since the Bondo job I did on the existing one is sketchy as hell,

Last but not least, figure out what the new noise I heard on the weekend is and fix that..

    I love my taco :)

2007 DC 4X4 bought new. Just hit 213,000 miles today.

    New struts/shocks at 125,000.
New U-Joint at 170,000. Toyota reimbursed me.
    Alternator at 180,000.
New leaf springs at 190,000 (Done as part of the recall).

    I think I'm on my 3rd battery.
Front brakes pads have been replaced 3-4 times. Rears once. Still have the original drums and rotors.
I'm on my 5th set of tires.
Plugs replaced at 90,000 and 180,000
I'm on my 3rd serpentine belt.
Oil in the diff's and transfer case replaced at 170,000.

I still have factory hoses and coolant as well as the factory transmission fluid.

Other than normal stuff the alternator and struts are the only parts I've replaced on my dime in 14 years.
