I purchased a remote start kit for my 2016 Tacoma a few years ago. Mine is not push to start, so I ensured I purchased the correct one (H Key variant) for my application.

The install procedure is pretty straightforward, but where I have issues (I think), is when it comes to programming the module itself.

    The procedure is as follows
    -hold programming button
-plug in main 6 pin connector
-release button when lights red and blue
    -insert remaining connectors
-press and release button ten times
-lights will flash 9x, stop, and then repeat 9x and stop

*this is the point at which it fails to do anything other than flash 9x*

    -turn ignition to on/run
    -leds will flash rapidly 10x
-blue led will flash rapidly signifying module is programmed

It’s as if the unit isn’t getting a signal from the ignition and it can’t decipher whether the key is in, out, or on.

I recall speaking to the guy on the phone and while he tried to help, we went through all trouble shooting bases multiple times and found out nothing at all. He even sent me a replacement module as he thought perhaps the one I received originally was defective. That didn’t fix anything either.

I have walked away from it multiple times and have tried again multiple times to install it over the last few years thinking I did something wrong. However, every single time all I get is a flashing red and blue LED.

Any help would be appreciated, even if it is discovered it simply won’t work with my truck for some reason at least I can stop attempting to install it every few years.
