Camper Shell Compatibility Between Models

I have a Tacoma Second Generation with a 6' Bed and a Double Cab. Can I use a Camper Shell from a 6' 2nd generation Regular cab as long as it has the same bed length?

 

No, the shape of the back of a regular cab is different. The shell will fit the bed but the gap from the shell to the cab will look horrible.

 

I went through this some time ago, I had an access cab, and found a shell from a regular cab, both 6' beds. the regular cab has a more upright rear window on the cab, as compared to the access cab / double cab. The access cab / double cab has a slope angle. So, if you use a shell from a regular cab, if will fit the bed, it will have a non consistent gap between the shell and cab. more gap at the top. Not a huge difference, but its there.
