...when I called a nearby dealer Saturday morning about a 2021 OR DCSB MT with LED headlights that I saw on their website the night before. The sales receptionist told me that it was expected in a week or two and was available! This came after checking Cars.com and seeing a total of 3 Tacos in US with MT and LEDs across all trims.

Put down my deposit yesterday and picking up next week. FYI- Paid MSRP, but was able to get them to include the dealer-installed remote tailgate lock. They gave me $200 less than Carvana quoted for my trade-in, so with the tax savings and considering the Taco shortage, it was a pretty good deal overall.

It goes to show that it's worth checking dealers' websites, as this Silver Sky beauty didn't come up on Cars.com, and if it did, it likely would have been already sold.

Good for you but your title is clickbait. Just say I'm getting a new truck next week in your title. This is not social media or youtube.

You are right! Sorry - I'm new at this. I don't think I can change the title though, so next time I'll be more upfront.

Same story for me last August. Was looking for a manual Tacoma, but the only thing within ~500 miles of me was either black or white, neither of which I wanted, and the pickings were pretty slim at that. After weeks of searching, I stumbled on my Voodoo Blue TRD OR with manual trans and LED headlight upgrade along with TRD exhaust and factory window tint - pretty much exactly what I wanted!

They had just unloaded it from the truck and put it on their site that evening - didn't even have the actual photo yet, just a stock pic.

I called the next morning and someone was already looking at it, so I immediately placed a deposit.

Best part was they charged me sticker minus $1500 in Toyota incentives! $500 to get it delivered halfway across the country, but worth it!

I guess it pays to be patient and persistent if you know what you want.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
Take what you paid, multiply by 1% for each hour that you spend on TW. That will be your expenses on mods for the week.

you can tell who has been members for a while. They all post to tell you that you did something wrong a TW because you know the forum is only for them. and should only be used how they see fit.
Good for you that you got a new truck you wanted. Who cares if the title was a bit of clickbait. Someone was excited and posted. For every 1 bit of useful info there seems to be on this forum there is about 10 post of dick members.

As to the second title... in my experience 99% of the time a dealers website inventory is not up to date and shows vehicles they had a month or more ago which pulls you into their lot. This could be considered click bait ? I always ask, why their website is not up to date and get various lame excuses...

Dealer near me listed over 100 on the lot - when I cruised by just to look there were none... ZERO... and I know because
I'm a snoop and there were at least 40 on the lot the week prior. It's right around the corner.

If you look at the VIN listed on their website, if it is like 6 or 8 digits that means it is a unit that is 'allocated' to them, and not
on the lot. If you see a real VIN listed then yea it should be out there.

To be fair, though, it really seems that things here have been much better lately. I realize I may regret saying that, of course, but I have found that for the most part the people here are focused on helping one another and doing so in a friendly way. Call me crazy but I don't really see a lot of negative stuff being posted nor do I see a lot of people attacking one another.

I've gotten a lot of help here ... and really appreciate the community ...

OP, congrats on your truck. I think the point the OP was making is don't get too hung up on the larger search engines -- sometimes the dealer Web site is where you can find what you are looking for.

    Carry on ...

If you are on PC, you can hover your mouse over the thread title and after a second or two a pop-up will show a short preview of the text of the thread. Helps to give you a quick idea of what the thread is about, "click bait" title notwithstanding.

Congrats, OP. We know you're excited as one should be.
