So i have an almost mint truck 391,000km on it. Had motor with 160,000 on it swapped in at the 360,000 mark. Body is completely rust free, no dents and almost no scratches. New brakes lines, bilstein shocks, steering rack, suspension is all new within the year. Everything underneath has been undercoated i bet 2 times a year since it was new.. BUT, the frame is rotted. Even after the recall.
Has already been patched 1 time, now rotted again in front of that patch

Is this a truck you've had since new? Maybe the rust is propagating inside the frame. Was there a question you had?

I've only had it for 5 months. Best truck i'vs owned so far. I wanna keep driving it but with an hour and 10 minute commute to work and possible camping trips, i dont really trust it.
And I got it for free.. from my grandpa. And if its worth it i'd consider a frame swap depending on the price.
But i'd like to see other peoples opinions that are more familiar with these trucks

If you are up for a project look for one that was rolled and totaled out for body damage and then swap your trucks body and drive train over that one?

My 06 has the frame replacement and the shop got it done in 3 working days. Of course they had a lift and it was a Toyota mechanic. Your results will vary of course.

My truck was my father's so it had sentimental value. I was very disappointed discovering the frame was trashed after getting it roadworthy after sitting a couple years. I got lucky, found the frame hole and got into the frame replacement window by literally 2 months before my trucks eligibility window was done.

    Good luck, understand.

BTW, nice looking truck. Like yours mine has no body rust. Go figure.

I'm so happy for you about getting a new frame just under the deadline, especially keeping something so sentimental.

I own a 2006 too and hope with Fluid Film I can keep mine for a while longer living in the rust belt.
