Hmm...it's one of those smaller market BUT more rare issues.

I bought my first Tacoma (2012 regular cab) 2 weeks ago after looking for a month for the right one. "The right one" specifically was a regular cab or access cab, 4WD, no frame rust, under 125,000 miles, MANUAL Transmission. As I say, it took me a month to find one to my liking and I had to drive almost 6 hours, two states away. I did feel like I got a pretty good deal on it....so maybe manual transmission helped....but not exactly sure.

I recall how I learned to drive a stick like it was yesterday even though it was 40 years ago. My parents bought a used fox body mustang with a stick at a car dealer 30 miles away from our house. Dad pointed to it and said "Can you get that car home"? I said "absolutely". I got in it and got it home.

Now that being said...I'd driven tractors with manuals and motorcycles with clutches for a while, so I understood the concept. The shift pattern is on the knob. The only hard part is getting a feel for the clutch.

About 30 years ago I needed to rent a U-Haul, they gave you a half off discount if you rented an old truck with MT. I got a late 60's Ford with a 390 and an intoxicating exhaust burble, was about as much fun as you could have driving a U-Haul box truck!
