Differences in switch panels

I originally heard about Spod and Switchpros for use as simplified switch panels and said no to them because I haven't needed that many switches yet and its not worth the price.

I have recently heard about Voswitch on Amazon and haven't heard anything bad, just very few reviews out there. They are originally made for Jeeps but now have a universal kit.

I've also seen some cheaper no name brands that are for sale on amazon and other places.

My question is this: What is the difference in all of these switch panels? or is it worth getting the more expensive big brands like Switch Pros?

There's things to drop money on and things to take a step back from and think. I have lots of high end stuff mixed in with some China stuff. My switch panel is one of them. I got it on ebay for $50! It was open box and looked like it was never used.

Install is straightforward but a little odd with the dimmer and power function. But it does exactly what you want it to do. It doesn't do fancy strobes or anything.

 

i know this thread is almost a year old, but after a quick search on this website i haven't found anything covering this topic which is a shame because these things seem awesome and I've never had anything like them. ive always run direct wiring with rocker switches.

i am in the same boat as the op and im wondering what yall decided to go with and how much you spent on your switch systems.

 

In the same boat as you. Want a switch panel but can’t justify the price for SPOD so I was looking at the Voswitch. Only seen good reviews and it does have a lot of features like programmable modes. I want it for the strobe/momentary function and the dimmable switch panel. I read on their Amazon response to a question that they will be releasing a better version in may of this year. Not sure what it is but I’m going to message them to see. Will update the thread if I get more info.

So is the voswitch meant for the tacoma as well. I have been looking at that brand for my truck as well

 

It’s not necessarily made for a Tacoma but it is universal. They don’t have any Tacoma mounts so you’d have to figure out on your own or look up where to mount the panel but that’s fairly easy. It also comes with a RAM ball mount so that makes it easier if you have a RAM mounting system.

 

I have had an Auxbeam 8 gang switch installed for about a year. It is the same as many you see on Amazon. I haven't had any problems with it. I run a light bar, rear bumper lights, and ditch lights. I do not have any need for programming my switches. On/Off works for me. Like others mention earlier in the thread, I couldn't justify paying $500-$1000 to accomplish what I needed to do.

I originally was going to get a cheaper version of a switch panel. But ended up getting the switchpro. One reason is its a solid state system no relays . Then the other reason is that i spend hundreds of dollars on nice lights like diode dynamics and baja design and i didn’t want to trust some cheap Chinese made panel that may or may not fail. Switchpro is pricey but the company has great customer service and stands behind the product

 

The switch pros are definitely great quality and a good company. For what I’m using it wasn’t worth the hefty price tag for me. I went with the Voswitch and it has been great so far. $260 from Amazon and does 90% of what the switch pros do. Only things it’s really missing is solid state power module, Bluetooth app, and small features. The Voswitch has strobe/momentary functions, master switch to turn multiple lights on/off, programmable settings with memory, 4 colors on the switch board that’s able to dim and comes with RAM mount. So all in all the Voswitch fills all my needs but if you have the extra cash I’d go with switch pros.

 

How did you mount it inside your engine bay?

 

Directly on top of the fuse cover near the battery. Put 4 screws in and siliconed the holes to ensure no water would get in.

 

Solid state was a big reason for me. Less to fail.

Personally, I'm a little anal about anything electric. I want everything to be top quality because I don't want any failures on the road, partially something like a fire in the engine bay. From connectors used to wire loom I want to install once and be confident it will probably work for 400k miles.

I went with switch pros, and added a power trays combo.
