I use to have these vibes/groaning noises. I did the ECGS Bushing and haven’t had any issues since.

I've had this issue for the longest time, but after my third visit to the only local Toyota Shop, they (Toyota Technicians) finally "heard" / feel this issue happening in my 2017, currently is 18,500 miles but issue started close to 10,500.
At some times grinding sound is so perceptible that you maight thing something is going to fall apart... I just tested (Yesterday -Saturday-) using the 4x4 and there you go... no grinding sound at all... I still do not know what caused this issued to appear... parts to fix it were ordered but they are currently in backorder... I hope this fix does not take too long.
I'm limited to commute and no long trips, I've decided to avoid any surprises.

This issue makes the truck to feel insecure...

I'm glad to hear Toyota is getting involved in this now. The issue dates back way before the 3rd gen & a fix has been out for owners from ECGS for a long time.

Curious what build dates are for trucks with the revised front diff?

I just had the TSB done and it fixed my issue. I'm going to drive out to the mountains this coming week and see how it performs with the new front diff. Stay tuned.

Update: Got my truck repaired with the new front differential under the factory warranty TSB. (2017 Offroad - 32k miles) and the rubbing is gone. Everything feels a lot smoother and no vibrations, they didn't even install a ECGS bearing. Highly recommend seeking out a dealership to do the repair, it was free for me.

Just some info, It's not the needle bearings fault, it's the side gear floating in the diff. Poor design, they rely on the cv shaft to support the side gear and the only thing supporting the cv joint is the needle bearing. On the right side there is a longer shaft that is supported at the other end, so no problem on the right side. The needle bearing has to do double duty supporting the cv joint axle assembly and the side gear. the noise we are hearing is the side gear and spiders spinning. the noise stops when we engage 4wd because the cv joint spins at the same speed as the diff (except when turning). the correct repair would be to replace the diff with one that has side gears that are supported in the diff. Watch the ECGS video that shows the way the diff in the Toyota is made compared to a Dana unit. Off course the bushing that replaces the needle bearing fixes the problem due to the gained support, but it's a band-aid and the right way to fix it would be to redesign the diff. Who Knows, maybe that is what Toyota did in the new front unit that is installed in t sb 0011-18. The end.

    Or, the free hub mod!

That new TSB just installed an upgraded (wider?) needle bearing. There have been reports of vibes with that 'fix' also.

t sb 0011-18 is the whole front diff, not just the bearing. The diff part # that will be installed is 41110-35B70

Yes. But, I believe it is just the upgraded bearing. There were some other posted about it when the TSB came out.
