Hello, does anyone know what would cause this and how to make sure it doesn't happen again? This happened to both my rear tires in just 5 months.

So I could be very wrong about this but I remember hearing over inflation can cause this.

Ditto, verify the air pressure in those tires.

You have to check your tire pressure man, like every other tank full of gas. You killing your tires not paying any attention to them.

Sorry, man :( I'd be not happy as well. Definitely check the fronts psi as you rotate them to the back.

Most tire shops fill the tire by the tire spec. Not the spec of the vehicle there being mounted on.

No doubt they were over inflated by the shop, but as an owner and operator of the vehicle these things need to be watched and adjusted accordingly.

As everyone says, tire pressure. Don't assume the tire shops (or dealerships) fill them properly. My dealership often inflates them to 5-10 PSI over the cold recommendation.

Also bear in mind that a tire filled to 30 PSI in December will likely not be at 30 PSI in April, especially if it is warm outside. Air naturally escapes through the rubber. However, heat also causes expansion. You can also observe this when driving if you use the PSI readout on the dash or check the pressures after a drive.

Yea ill definitely be keeping an eye on them closer. I checked the psi and they're all the same 28psi on all four. Any suggestions on the psi?

Check the B pillar on the driver's door opening. That has the minimum recommended cold PSI.

Edit: also, if you click "quote" in the bottom right, the person you're replying to will get a notification.

Start at 32 psi, and don't forget to rotate at 10000 miles ish for tire longevity.

28 psi would not cause that extreme of wear in the middle.

When was the last time you had an alignment?

EDIT: Oh, rear tires. Hmmmm. Is it the same amount of bad wear all the way around hte tire?

How are the front wearing? And same air pressure the whole time?

Same air pressure. The front ones still look brand new.

Those also look like winter tires. They'll definitely have more wear than regular tires, especially in warmer weather.

Do the chalk test to make sure you have even wear and adjust psi accordingly.
