I was never able to get my truck into temp check mode with the shift sequence either. I used the Torque app instead and waited until the readout was in the middle of the range to open the check plug and closed it when I only got a trickle.

I checked it with an IR gun. Temps were all over the place since I have a aluminum pan.. I think I'll go for a 20 min drive this time and see how hot it can get before trying the check mode. Thanks for sharing your experience. I thought I was the only one having problems with a dash light being out

It’s not the dash light, at least not in my cash because I can see it flicker in when I turn the key. I’d say using an IR gun is going to be wildly inaccurate, the Torque app can give you 2 temps, converter and pan. Driving it around you’ll likely get higher temps than the temp check range and you may end up draining too much

oh yah it took me awhile too. First time I did not do it while it was running then did it again and much better.

I had a leftover blank odb deal which I used to make a switch for setting the VSC and pinned the 2 wires it tells you and plugged it in. Def recommend that if you plan to change it often. I will be changing mine again soon for safe measure.

Apologies for bumping a dead thread but I didn't think a separate thread was necessary.

Installed the kit this past weekend. Took about 2.5 hours and was just waiting for a transmission filter/fluid change to do this mod.

Holy cow I absolutely can't believe I didn't do this mod sooner. Shifts are nice and predictable and much more sporty like the truck should feel. At WOT it is a different animal. With 35's the stock tranny slips a bit but after this mod my whole front end lifts up as the transmission grabbing power is substantially increased.. fun stuff

Only picture I got... Was too focused on tearing it apart lol

Good job getting into that. It can be quite daunting for some.

I've had the kit sitting in my garage for the last year and I've read hours and pored over the install extremely thoroughly to a point I memorized every step and spring placement. It definitely is not for the faint of heart. I actually thought it was quite fun as I don't typically tear into transmissions lol

I do not have any forced induction. The only mods I have are volant front ram intake/snorkel combo, 3* camshaft gears, intake manifold spacer, URD spec u headers, urd y pipe, urd maf calibrator and the heavy accelerator foot mod :D

Thanks! I may get around to this at some point too. Trans is getting old and has started to occasionally produce that shift flare between 3&4. No boost here either

this is just a generic picture and not mine but i am doing the kit and want to keep the shifts at a street level, maybe slightly firmer and want the extra holding power of the converter (wife's vehicle). Thanks for the reply, it helps ...Steve

As an update to this, the reason my truck would never go into trans check mode is because my park neutral switch was failing. I didn’t notice for years because the only failure symptom was no crank/start in neutral @jamesepoop

Interesting. I didn't know that could be a cause for concern. I will check it out. Reminds me that I need to service my trans fluid this week. Weird but during a cold rainy day last week, I got an AT fluid temp light while I was driving in D. Downshift out of OD and maybe there was fluid in the solenoid, the light shut off and then hasn't come up again. Anyway. Will do a drain pan and replace the gasket this week and see what's up.

Check your bolts. I tightened these. In fact all of my bolts were still to torque spec but these two in the corner had come loose. One was in the pan next to the magnet.
