I'm excited to play with it. I'd been eyeing this particular truck for years
I think the visor is kick ass! It will make it real tough to see traffic lights though, haha

Today I paid some attention to my Tacoma and swapped all four of the 5100s for OME shocks. Maybe tomorrow I’ll get to an alignment shop and see how the ride differs.

Ditching the CB radio for GMRS. I got the radio mounted tonight, hopefully get the antenna tomorrow. I’ve got a question about the NMO mount and whether or not I should use the Midland NMO or get a Larson. I’m very happy with how the radio fits in the dash.

Today I put a hole in my roof for an NMO mount for the antenna. I’m very happy with it, providing it doesn’t leak!

It turns out that the NMO mount I got from Midland was not going to work in my roof and once I made some phone calls this morning, all my confusion was set straight. When I ordered the “Farm Tractor Bundle” kit from Midland, they included a thick mount NMO that is designed to mount to a 1/4” thick bracket. I had intended to use the supplied NMO and antenna on my truck and forget about the mount that came with the bundle. If anyone is reading this...DON’T DO THIS if you plan to drill the roof and use the NMO. You’ll have to do what I did and run all across town trying to find a normal NMO mount. Below are two photos comparing the thick mount NMO to the standard NMO. You need the standard to mount in a vehicle roof. Nowhere on the Midland website did I see that I was getting a thick mount NMO.

Also, after dinner I went out and finally installed the extended SS brake line for the rear and bled the brakes. I also fixed the light bar on the bumper from when I accidentally broke the wiring for it a long time ago. Productive day!

larger antenna arrived today and I’m interested in playing around to see how much of a difference it makes compared to the stubby antenna.

Today I got the diff reinstalled with the help of a couple friends and finished my steering rack swap. Boy did that job suck. Off to the alignment shop in the morning, then if only I can get my 4wd working on the Tundra I’d be in good shape!

Every time I jack up the Tundra I think how mean it would look if it was always that tall...then I remember that I’d probably go broke buying tires and gas, not to mention other suspension and steering components that would probably break/need replacing.

I have a new radiator and thermostat waiting for the Tacoma. Just need to pick up some distilled water and some new zip tie mounts for my transmission cooler and I’ll knock that out.

I took the Tundra to the algnment shop this morning and that truck is driving well again.

Then, this evening I installed the Corolla thermostat and a new Denso radiator on the Tacoma. Then I broke off one of the mounts for the front skid plate....going to try to get that welded up after work tomorrow. The truck is running on average 10° cooler. I drove 30 minutes down the highway and it stayed right at 174.2° with occasional minutes at 176.0°. :woot: I’m excited to monitor it as the summer rolls around. Before, my engine was running around 186-190 so I think this is a great improvement...so far

I went and got my old 4Runner from the ranch today. In the past year and a half that it’s been down there I never had a mouse problem....since the last time I drove it, they moved in to the engine compartment and chewed the main ignition wire going to the distributor along with some other small gauge wires that I think will be easy to repair. Luckily it has a winch on the bumper and I was able to use that to pull it up onto the trailer. I filled the airbags to 35PSI to level the truck and cruised home. I even got out my tape measure since this is the first time I’ve towed with the bags. The truck is dead level even though it looks slightly nose-high. Those airbags are sweet! The Tundra rode so much nicer than the last time I towed something heavy with it. It towed beautifully at 65-70mph, for a gasser

Installed some 255/80/17 Cooper ST MAXX tires and some military style battery terminals today in preparation of a Colorado trip coming up.

I decided to take advantage of what I feel is the tail end of the crazy used car market and I sold my most comfortable vehicle. $7000 for 350,000 miles and no air conditioning. Bittersweet, I remember going with my dad to buy it new. Lots of memories in it.

Old MAP sensor for my boost gage cooked itself in the excessive heat, so today I replaced it and we’re back in business.
