Strange Rattle During Acceleration

Hello all, new here to the forum. By the subject of the thread, you can probably guess what brought me here.

I had a small rattle start a few months ago. It was quiet, quiet enough where if I asked someone else to listen to it, they could not hear it. I crawled underneath the truck, shook a bunch of parts, but the only thing somewhat loose was a heatshield, so I put a larger washer on it, but it didn't help.

The noise was most pronounced during accelerating in 2nd/3rd gear between I believe 2-3k, starting near 2k and dying out by 3k. Since I was the only one to hear it, I just turned up the radio and tried to ignore it.

Yesterday, I was accelerating uphill. In 2nd and 3rd gear, it sounded like what I can, at this moment, only explain as the sound of my clutch pedal shaking. Depressing it made the sound go away, but releasing brought it back. It seems to only happen uphill (under more load?)

Any ideas what this could be? I've looked around and people have said bad gas, but I've tried different stations and premium gas as well. Going to call Toyota and set up a date for them to look at it. I hope I'm able to replicated it since it is sometimes inconsistent.

Without actually hearing it it's hard to tell, but I'd guess it's the engine pinging. Pre-ignition is a bad thing. Good idea having it checked. A quick diagnostics might point right to the problem. How old is the vehicle? How many miles? Has it been maintained?

2018 with 23k miles, still under warranty, maintained every 5k miles at the dealership.

I'll see if I can get one today on my way home
    from work.

Maintained at the dealership every 5k? Hopefully you have a good, honest dealer that actually does the work that you pay for. A lot of toyota dealers suck big time.

Honestly, I'm not fan of my local dealer. So far, I did my own oil change at 5k with Royal Purple, they were supposed to do one at 10k & 20k. Other than that, I believe it was just inspection and tire rotation. I'm thinking of driving ~40 minutes out to one that came highly recommended by a buddy who's father was a service manager in the same area.

Edit: made an appointment for Saturday. Will keep you posted, but any ideas an suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Was thinking of switching trans fluid to Redline since that helped in the past with a Matrix I owned, but may just wait to see what Toyota suggests before I do that.

That seems to be the most common suggestion. I haven't taken it off roading yet and don't beat on the truck. What are the chances of it going out with that low of mileage?

I would be very surprised if it went out with such low kms.

Anything is possible I guess, it could have been a bad bearing to begin with if that is what it is. That just came to mind since I had an old jeep that did the same thing.

    ...stuff
If the sound disappears when you press the clutch... is the clutch pedal slightly loose?

Haven't thought about that. I just chalked it up under it being part of the previous noise getting worse. Although, at the time it was vibrating, I did try to get it to move with my foot, and it seemed solid.

    Curious what happened here?

I have a 2010 Tacoma standard v6. 3rd gear uphill or under load, same noise you are explaining. It sounds like its coming from just in front of the pedal area. Kind of a ticking/vibrating/rattling. Started a month ago and can not figure it out.

EDIT: It isnt the pedal itself but the noise is only apparent when the truck is in gear and moving

Did you ever find out what it is? I have a automatic. Rattle happens around 3500rpm briefly and it goes away. Sounds like a chain slap
