Ok it’s the weekend and time to lift my Gen2

Extreme newb though I own a Gen 1 and 2 for over 10 years.

Looking at 2” lift for my Gen2 . The only off-roading I do is occasionally the infield at Road Atlanta and if I miss my driveway and end up on the grass next to it.

I only know what I’ve skimmed here (200 pages into the silver Tacoma thread). Bilstein 5100’s? What else do I need?

Which shop in Atlanta area can perform this feat for me?

2" is probably either spacers
or $90 AAL in back (+ hardware kit), Bilstein 5100 shocks set to 0 (~$300, supposedly can be ordered generic or vehicle model-specific) to handle that lift height
and taller front spring such as OME 883x or whatever else is out there, to lift the front 2"
all varies in price
easier to install with access to spring compressor

maybe refreshing some suspension parts while you're in there like strut top mounts (~$25-30/per side)

 

Hey thanks. Good suggestion on the mounts “while we’re in there”. Anything else you can think of?

I’ll probably just go with spacers right now and see how the ride is. Any recommendations?

Can any mechanic with a lift do this or do I need an experienced shop?

 

Mounts aren't really wearable items, the new shocks come with new bushings and washers, so they can be left.

Spacers are fine for a quick lift. ReadyLift is pretty cheap and reputable. Usually with spacers its 2 1/4 front and 1" rear.

 

Thanks. Just ordered Bils all around + Old Man Coils for the front.
My bed is usually lightly loaded so 1” blocks sounds like the way to go.

Just to be clear the front shocks are variable and so the rear 1” blocks can provide an overall approx 2”inch lift?
