And therein lies the challenge. How many of those became finished images? How many prints are hanging on your walls from those forty moosesessessss? It's a crutch we all use these days because it's so convenient; I had a portrait session last night; single person, one pose, no clothing changes - I probably shot 35-40 frames. Why? Because I wanted to make sure I got "the" shot, even though I knew which three or four images were going to be the choices for the client. The idea behind this challenge is to use it as a tool to plan and anticipate the shot. I don't know about you, but I KNOW for me, the quality of my post-processing work improves a LOT when I'm only dealing with a few images vice a few hundred, which always seems a Herculean task...

When I was relatively new in the game, I was lucky enough to receive some mentorship from Ted Grant , one of Canada's preeminent photographers of the second half of the 20th century (and subsequently worked with his son, Scott), most widely known for his image of Ben Johnson at the '88 Seoul Olympics:

He told me how he was in the press pit at the finish line with 15 or so other photographers, and all of them were burning through film, motor drives set to 'Turbo'. He tracked Ben through the lens, and took a single frame; that one, which went on to be on the cover of almost every publication reporting on the Olympics (and then got reused when he was stripped of his medal, but... that's another story). This was typical of his work; he could shoot an all day assignment with one or two 36 rolls.

Point being: Less is more. Your post-processing will be easier, and better with fewer images, and your quality will improve.

Good Morning. Had a nice social distanced dinner with some good friends last night. Today after church I will finish trimming the yard with my Tanaka and loading up the recycling container.

@Taco-Grinder Dan you have great taste in gas trimmers. Ran them for years when I had my landscaping business. In fact I’m still running them. One is close to 18 years old and still running strong.
