Soooo... Looking to rewire my SOS Button, can someone help me identify the 8 pin plug and how to wire it.

Likely going to wire an emergency light to it.

Based on Mirror Wiring, I assume the white with black stripe wire is the GROUND, and the Tan/Brown wire is 12 volt ignition (only voltage when ignition is on, aka engine running)

Some basic testing with a multi meter will tell you a lot luckily.

we can find voltage, ground, and whether it’s a latched or momentary switch.

    It’s a TE AMP 025 8 position:

    https://www.te.com/usa-en/product-1717103-2.html

There isn’t a simple wire-to-wire mating part. It terminates onto a header, and thus it makes building an extension pretty complicated. Caribe can come by with the pin map. If it’s an SOS button I wouldn’t recommend tapping it with a vampire splice.

I currently just pulled the connector. I figured it would be safer to just make a new wire harness and just splice off only a known POWER and GROUND, as not to interfere with other functions tied to the original harness.

And, Thank You for the connector info..!

Why not tap R44 instead if you’re just looking for power? It’s the 24-pin that powers the whole console — including the PCB that routes to the header on that switch.

Most every wire in the overhead console is very low amp draw, so be warned if you’re going to play around up there.

No info on the switch itself at this time.

How about a way to use the other connector in the roof console. It looks just like the R44 and mine currently only has 4 pins in use. Is there a way to find out which pins do what without disassembling the entire console and tracing out the PCB?

Well there's not much to work with. A junkyard could provide the full populated connector on the console which "could" provide illumination to any added switches.

    Does this mimic your R44?

Yes it does, but the pinouts are different. I have a temporary fix in for now until I find a board to work with.

The only wires coming off of it are for the traction control on/off switch. I would have to crack open the assembly to figure out what the exact pin-outs were. If someone has a spare that is non-working I could trace most of them.

Are you referring to the connector going to the switches in the overhead console? Not R44...

Edit: Nevermind, I saw the connector in post #11.

It's like I posted before; Get a used one from a Junker, the switches missing share the illumination circuit. Since your Tacoma doesn't have the features for the all-in-inclusive model you'll have to add a fused power wire to all added switches.

I posted a pic request for the Limited Overhead console view, but no one responded.
