Garage Shop: Tools

I have a plan in place. I the event of my demise, my buddy I have known from elementary school who is also a mechanic. Is to handle the sale of my STUFF to make sure my wife gets as much out of it as possible.

 

I let my bride know what everything is worth and what I’ve paid for it, no grave robbers ripping her off when she finally pushes me down the stairs.

My boy has my back. Has proven it many times. Plus my money is chump change compared to his.

 

Picked up a set of the knockoff knipex pliers from hf. We'll see if they're any good.

They fail already, the jaw doesn’t close square to allow you to pull with the, just using the leading edge will wear them quickly.
I have several pairs and styles of Knipex, have found nothing that comes close to reliability and quality, only non warrantable issue was pulling the rivet off the adjusting button, my own dumb for not paying attention.
I’ve worn a few pairs out, the SnapOn guy was pretty impressed, but they were almost 20 years old.

 

Not many. This is the only one I got before everything was thrown back in before my son was born, haha.

Klein 9” Lineman’s Crimping Pliers. I did a little electrical work at my gun club with a retired electrician and he had an older pair of these pliers. I bought on his advice. Definitely a solid tool to have.

 

But do you have the self customized version cutting live wires?...

I do and I keep them on permanent display to remind me to always meter the wires after opening what you thought was the correct breaker.

 

No, and I don’t think I want that version.

I have the custom needle one version. A leg of 277/480 straight to ground. And vaporized a nice little hole in the siden of one of jaws

 

Don`t laugh but I had a Doberman that loved to run off with tools when I was not paying attention.

Those long hot days when I was dehydrated I was not sure if I bought the tool out to the vehicle or not

 

We had a pit mix for a short time that did same, I was repairing the hot wire on top of my chain link fence, had my kids wagon with all the stuff I needed, the asshole took off with the lineman’s pliers.
We will rescue a dog before ever “buying” one, he was our third rescue, our first had died, we still had the second and he was used to having a pal to keep him company, they got along....for awhile, then “Bentley” started asserting himself, and roughing up Metro, a Husky Shepard mix.
Then he started stealing tools, he tore the crawl space vent screens off the foundation of the house, ate the corner trim off the house (pulled it off and chewed it up) shredded 2 sheets of foam board I had to insulate a trailer.
Then one day wife was bringing meat out to the grill to cook and he pounced on her and growled when she tried to correct him.... no idea if he ever made it out of the shelter again. To aggressive and once he showed it to the wife, I wasn’t about to let him around the kid (6yo @ the time). Had to go.

 

you can`t put up with that Myself I would have fixed that problem right then.

I can guess rules to follow with rescues .

 

So I have mostly all 20V Dewalt tools when it comes to power tools and I love them but I decided to buy my first Milwaukee tool since Dewalt doesn’t have a very good smaller tool line. I bought the 12v fuel 3/8” ratchet (
