While driving down a gravel road, a rock flew from my tire and shattered the glass in my passenger side mirror.

Looking online it seems you can buy the glass alone. How exactly does this work? Do I simply pull off all the old glass and then the new applies with some sort of double sided tape?

My truck also has heated mirrors, not sure if this factors into what replacement parts I will have to purchase or not.

The only other option I saw in a quick search was buying the entire mirror assembly, and I don’t really want to spend the money to do that if at all possible.

Turn the mirror down and to the left as far as it will go and then pry from the top right hand corner. It will pop off. If memory serves, it attaches via some clips to a ball and socket type joint. I replaced my drivers side with the Rav4 variant that has the integrated blind-spot mirror awhile back.
Since you have the mirror heaters there will be a wire connector to disconnect. When you purchase the new glass make sure it says they are heated.

I was going forward, and on a secluded country road, so I was the only one. My tires do stick out past my fenders a little bit but I have driven down countless rock roads and have never had an issue. Just a freak occurrence I guess.

Isn’t it though? I thought it was fitting given the fact that I’m pretty certain my truck would lose a race against a hover round wheelchair.
