Hi Everyone, I am new to this page. I am currently working on removing my engine heads. I just removed the timing chain cover and was getting it to TDC. My question is this(regarding the timing chain): If the markings on the sprockets do not aligned perfectly with the markings on the engine, should I not remove the timing chains and should I worry? It doesn't seem to be by a lot. It just depends what angle I view it from.

Unfortunately no. I checked that the cams were facing up and stuck a small metal stick through the spark plug hole to make sure the piston was up. and rechecked the markings on the sprockets and the engine. I figured i was gonna be ok. It's my first time doing it so I am overly cautious. Depending on the angle I looked at them, sometimes they were off and sometimes they were on the marks. Any suggestions I would gladly take. Thank you

Your chain is stretched, the new chain will have yellow markings to line up with cams and crank.

    DO NOT reuse the chain.

LMAO - how do you know his chain is "stretched" without a pic??
