Any thoughts on the F250? Anyone own one now or in the present?

They're good trucks, great for towing and hauling. They are wonderfully roomy, but also very large. What do you want to do with one?

The most capable pickup I ever had was a 250 crewcab longbed. Triton V10.

Parking was the only issue. You’ll hear folks complain about mileage but come back to reality. It a huge mass with significant wind resistance.

I may be in the market for a full size truck in the near future. I want a Tundra but unless I can get exactly what I want I may have to go with another brand.
I’ve had a couple of F150’s and they were okay. Never had a Ram but I’ll take a look. Any truck from GM isn’t even considered. Not interested in diesel.
    That leaves an F250.

Just looking for a truck that will last a long time, haul some hay bales and tow a travel trailer on occasion.

If all you're looking for is a full size pickup then an F250 is going to be overkill.

I’m ready for overkill. I don’t want to have to buy a truck for at least a decade. Or maybe ever again.

How much weight are we talking here?

New or Used? Is this also going to be your daily driver?

Depending on budget, have you checked out the 7.3L F250 with the 10 speed? That is one hell of a truck.

If you really wanna go all out...Tremor package.

Since you won’t DD this truck, you are a good candidate for a diesel. However that gets a bit spendy. My diesel is for tow or snow. Other than that it sits in the garage.

Not interested in diesel. I’ve been reading about the 7.3 and it’s impressive. The 6.2 seems to be reliable and probably all I need.

I don’t recommend diesels unless you can either afford them or truly need one.

I drive a 2015 F250 CC SB at work. It’s all right. Wouldn’t want to be towing a lot with it. 9k lbs or less should be fine. A couple of my buddies with 6.2 Raptors had theirs tuned...woke them up nicely.

If I had to give up my diesel, the 7.3L Ford would be my only option due to what I currently tow.

That's not the sense of "overkill" I'm referring to. You get quite an upgrade in power with a penalty of MPG on top of the premium you'll be paying and it doesn't really last any longer than the full size pickup. Unless you have a lot to haul, it really isn't worth it; especially if a regular 1/2 ton is going to fulfill your needs.

The problem is that other than the Tundra I’m not considering a half ton. The Titan is a nice truck but my local Nissan dealer is filled with dicks.

So, if the Tundra (one of the lowest capability full size pickups on the market) is enough for you, why go larger?

The problem with a Tundra is payload.

If you are considering a tundra that can tow, wait for the 2022 model coming out.

Im not interested in a first year truck from any manufacturer.

Because of previously stated reasons. The only half ton I’d consider is a Tundra. I’m going for the statement in my signature.

I had one, 6" lift, 35" tires, locked, geared, camper, could have probably pulled the world backwards. One hell of a truck, towed anything I ever hooked up to it. To big, expensive to repair, wife hated climbing up into it. Sold it and made a healthy profit.
