For the record, I was unaware you had a signature until you mentioned it. It doesn't show up on regular mobile view.

You certainly won't beat the Tundra for reliability. A 3/4 ton isn't going to gain you anything in that department though. Also, you previously mentioned the RAM. I'd avoid those like the plague, especially if you have already deemed GM to be bad enough to be out.

    Get a 6.2 4x4 with a utility bed, it's only a few thousand more than a Tundra.

Just picked up a late 2022 F250 with the 6.7L. Was replacing an '07 F350 with the 6.0 PS that was excellent. Last model year, did the handful of items to make is reliable. Just couldn't save it from an uninsured driver who pulled out in front of me.

I picked up the 2022 diesel b/c of the base weight of the truck. Drove the 7.3L gas motor and it was nice. But preferred the diesel for towing capacity and also ability to cruise better. It's the Gen 3 motor (I think 2023 still retain the Gen 3 design).

Pay attention to the rear axle ratio. I got the 3.31 and it's 20 mpg on the highway at 80 all day long. The 7.3L gas motor may only be available in 3.55 or 3.73 depending on the GVWR you pick... and that'll sacrifice mileage and range.

Other plus to the diesel has always been resale... if it's taken care of. Lately the 7.3L has hedged that a bit as it's a good motor, unlike the 6.2L offering.

So I'll conclude with this in closing. If you go with a diesel get it new. If not... you better be able to verify the maintenance. Fuel / water filtration is key (as with any diesel). There are just too many folks driving the diesel trucks out there that don't put the importance on the maintenance.

Sorry for the rant... just wanted to offer up some thoughts.

I hear you... just didn't want to go with the new body style (really the interior).

I do plan to nut and bolt the everything as I do my regular maintenance. Yes I do it all myself.

The term txfr case skid plate gave me a laugh... as the term skid plate is a liberal use of the word. And I did find one missing rubber plug missing from the door so far. :)

Sure do like the 1000 ft-lbs and 10 spd over my 6.0L though. The DEF and DPF system aren't really value add for me. Time will tell.

Which trim and configuration did you go with.

I just saw someone I know is selling a F-350 bed, had I known I could have bought a regular cab 3-4or550 chassis and had the bed mounted on it.

Black CC Lariat w/ Black & Ultimate. First time to not have an 8 ft bed. Have put 3000 miles on it in 3 weeks. So far so good.

XLT would have been fine... but the ventilated seats were a must for Texas weather. And it was one of the last to have been spared the aftermarket dealership special treatment (Roush, Black Widow, etc.. for a ridiculous final price). Had to go out of state to get it. Getting it titled and registered... now that's another fun story.

F250 with the 7.3 has less BS than the newer ones and just go.
