What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

How are yours height wise? Mine from a 328i with power everything have me sitting up higher than I would like.

 

I’m easily bribed by beer...

 

Raised me up about 3/4 or an inch. Doesn't bother me because I set layed back a bit. Did about 10 hours of pretty rough roads today never bumped my head.

 

Added quick disconnects to the subs incase someone actually has to sit back there

 

Had a friggen blast today!




Only had to be pulled out once... but as soon as we aired down, no problems.

 

But boy... did we put in some work!




It was this big assed mutherfucker (and it getting late) that turned us around.

 

The perks of these Extra cab models - you can access the fuel pump by lifting the bed... was able to get enough clearance to swap the pump out with some blocks of wood wedged between the bed and frame #shadetreemademe

 

I notice it most getting in, I have to duck. And at stop lights, I have to crane my neck to see the light, if I am right at the light. If I get some free time this summer, I plan to remove that hump at the front of the seats and bolt them directly through the floor pan.

Getting in is not such a big deal for me. The craning the neck for stop lights is an issue... not enough of an issue for me to want to change it though lol. My HAM head unit is under my seat, behind that hump too.

 

What ham are you running. I’d like to upgrade the unit in my truck. The handheld baofang falls all over the place and I get slapped around by the longer antenna.

Finished the electrical hub in the bed, added tool box lights, a 12v plug, a usb charger/voltmeter combo, and bed lights.

What is the source for that box? I assume it is relatively water tight? I need to put an invertor in a more weatherproof environment.

 

Yeah it’s hard, I have a 3 year old.. I’ve done this sorta work for 18 years but have never missed home like I do now. And it sucks watching the calendar counting to day 35.

 

I have the same issue, and I'm short. I modified the original feet as much as I could, but it's still way high. I thought about removing the hump, but the tunnel will still interfere with how low it will sit. I've mostly gotten used to it now though.

 

Cool. But that seems like a major PITA placement for switches..or is the idea to be laying in the bed while keeping the space available to open the lid?? no..that also seems like a PITA...please, your thought process? haha

 

Does anyone have any issues with the bedsides and the front of the bed spreading apart with a topper or anything similar mounted to the bed?
I know the rear part by the tailgate does and I already have the rago fab stiffeners, but I'm wondering if I need to reinforce the front part also.

 

IceCo test fit. Now to wire constant power as all factory outlets are switchable. There is a fuse block under MTX with ample wiring so not hard to do. Need to get a socket panel and it will be nice and clean.

 

Yes it can happen and does plenty with people that have toppers it bed racks. Why I say it's better to have a bed rack with a front bar across the bed.

For a topper idk what I'd do. Some sort of bracket to connect them.
