Why Clear DTC and TCU and rest ECU after an OV flash?

I apologize ahead of time if this question has been asked before.
I tried a search on clear and DTC etc and found nothing helpful.

Why is important to clear the DTC and TCU and reset the ECU after doing an OV flash?

I just did a OV flash and neglected to do this Clear phase. Do I need to go back in and do it.
The truck is running great so...
