I thought you said in the original post two sets of stock leaf packs. Why do they run better than oem? What’s the difference of oem v. stock to you?

 

Im surprised at all these arm chair engineers freaking out, i dont see any reason it wouldnt work other than needing a longer center pin and u bolts, if it sucks, remove the added leaf...

 

If one were to weld leaf springs to the C-channels of the frame, would it give it extra spring back for flexing off road? Asking for a friend.

Don't. This is a recipe for failure.

Leaf springs are arched. As they compress, the distance between mounts expands. The purpose of the shackle linkage is to allow the "growth".

If you weld the leaf spring onto the frame, then the mount distance is fixed. Something will break, just a matter of time.

 

But if the Greeks and Romans used arches, then these should make the frame stronger right? Might have to cut them into smaller arches to make it fit. But that means more arches, so even stronger. Or am I off base on that?

 

Totally. To keep with the neo-classical theme, I suggest building the arches out of marble.

All Im sayin is that wagons used to be made of wood, ocean worthy vessels taking on 80 foot waves were made of wood.

That's cause they didn't have metal technology, they would have had metal wagons and metal 80 vessels. Like we do today. So we don't see wood wagons and wooden vessels taking 80 foot waves.

Plus with the cost of wood these days, metal would be way cheaper.

 

What am I reading? Spring rate calculations are extensive, taking into account metal fatigue, elasticity recovery rate, but yeah, a couple of leaves from used spring pack should work fine......
