I only have 5300 miles on my TRD Pro Tacoma. I have changed the oil a couple of times. I just changed today and had only 300 miles on it since last time which was last April. Can I go longer than a year? Just seemed wasteful because the oil was so clean.

Once a year, as per the manual.

In your case it protects more against condensation than carbon deposits and wear/tear.
