Do you guys have any recommendations for things I should have the dealership do before I drive it home? The only extra it has is mud flaps. Also have you guys ever asked a dealer to split the cost of some new tires and they can keep the old ones? I'm really interested in the official LR tire (maxxis razr). This is my first brand new vehicle so I have no idea how to work a dealership. I'm trading in my 2017 OR. Any and all advice to get every thing I need and can get out of a dealership.

Leave as soon as possible - you can do better elsewhere in pretty much every aspect...

Do get the bed mat, Tailgate lock and Bedlights from Toyota. See if you can get them to throw some bits in... - Otherwise online will be better (lower priced).

I went with Rek Gen Mudflaps.

I did the Bed Mat and roof rack, then insisted they disable the seat belt chime.

I tried both the RekGen and the RockBlokz mud flaps. I much prefer the RBs. https://advdogs.com/2021/01/rokblokz-vs-rek-gen-mudflaps/

Edit: I don't like how the OEM flaps don't flex and also have the lip around the perimeter, which prevents snow and ice from sluffing off during the winter.

Had my buddy install clearbra on all the forward facing paint; headlights, top of the hood, front half of the fenders, mirrors, a-pillar and the tailgate too. Then tint the windows.

I sold my OEM tires after about 3,000 miserable miles of skating and slipping everywhere, for $300 on Craigslist. The dealer did not want the OEM tires when I asked.

I installed RAV4 radio knobs because the original knobs could only possibly work if you have tiny donald trump hands. Seriously. Smallest radio knobs in the world! The RAV4 knobs have little tire grips on them.

And finally, I ordered the Ivan 'Ironman" Stewart retro racing grill blocks off Etsy.

I think that's everything I did right off the bat (except the tires). I'm glad I waited for the Maxxis to come available in the US.

To echo above - bed mat, bed lights (we’re prewired so it’s plug and play), mudflaps (I also went RB), remote tailgate lock (also plug and play though a bit more involved install - super easy though).

All of these things can be ordered (genuine oem Toyota) from Amazon or other dealerships with free shipping at lower prices.

The maxxis are great so far but I don’t have many miles on em yet.

I went full graphene ceramic coating as well.

Door sills, rav4 knobs and (because why not) trd intake are waiting for next sale - probably Memorial Day. (It’s really the last item that’s holding up the previous two so I can bundle).

Oh right. I knew I was forgetting something. Door sill protectors. The dealership will charge an arm and a leg to install, but it took me about ten minutes to do it myself.

Also, my truck came with the TRD intake. I took out the free flow air filter and put the paper filter in because we have a lot of dust here.

Mine came with it, even the sales guy was surprised. But I think it's $500 from the dealer, so probably $350 from anywhere else. Like I said, I put a standard air filter in mine because it's dusty here. But, all of my friends, save one, drive Tacoma's (he's an Xterra guy - weird, I know), but all of them have commented on how my truck sounds so nice. As far as sound, I think it compliments the Cat Back extremely well.

I can't speak as to the performance gain since I've only driven mine with it. High-performance intakes do indeed help power (10 - 12%) despite what many folks on here say. They say, in the case of the TRD intake, it's the velocity stack in the fender that makes the most difference. I'm told you can just buy that part which would probably be the best ROI. But the red bits do look nice, if nothing else.

    Manual or automatic?

If manual that would be record breaking.

Really enjoy the Maxxis, it's a great tire.

I put away the OEM tires in case I ended up trading in the truck considering the insane used market on top of the sales tax credit in TX.

Thanks for the Maxxis writeup, awesome tires.

I think the truck was in the dealer's allocation already that they placed months ago. They just put his name on it.

After waiting nearly 6 months, my manual tranny LR will be here next week! Got $2000 off MSRP by dealer honoring Costco pricing (even though the Pro doesn’t qualify). Feel like I hit the lottery!

Very nice. I’m looking to get tint soon too.

What tint percentage did you get? Do you have any full side pics?
