I’m sure he is. Things always pop up and have to be dealt with. It could even be higher than that. Also consider frame rust in those older trucks. Especially in Canada.

I restore old cars as a hobby and unless you plan on doing most of the work you will never get back what you put into it. I would say keep your 2019 and don't worry about it depreciating. They hold their value a lot better than most cars out there. Find yourself a Toyota Tacoma project and set it off to the side. Work on it when you have the time and money and enjoy the 2019 you have now. The 65 Galaxie I have now I spent 3 years restoring and $14000. I paid for the restoration with money I saved from working overtime and didn't finance a dime. I had done this a couple times before and the restoration itself is the most enjoyable part anyway. Lately I have been modifying my 17 Tacoma because I like it so much. It sort of grew on me. Good luck.

Yes. Restoration work is very very expensive. I have about $15000 in my Opel GT in parts and materials. I’ve spent easily 700 hours on it (I chose to always keep my car drivable while restoring which adds a lot of time). A shop would have spent closer to $12500 on parts and materials and more like 200 man hours probably to get an equal product. That’s a minimum of $32500 for a mid quality restoration like I did myself.
After all of that I’d have a car worth $15000 lol.

Toyota parts are MUCH more expensive than Opel parts. And a Toyota has a lot more parts to replace too:)

sell the truck and buy a new one in a year. assuming you have a ride. if you don't have a ride, buy a cheap one.

restro's are not cheap if you are going frame off, but can be a ton of fun if you have the time and money to do it yourself.

Contact Nathan and The Gear Shop and get a ballpark for a project. Then at least you have an ides of the numbers out there.

    or this for
    $4500.

My opinion would be a sub $10,000 truck that is really well kept & maintained or an has an older restoration already that you can resto-mod yourself.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
Keep the truck and buy a toy to enjoy. Life is too short to only have one vehicle.

This is the best advice if you want to know what it takes to build up an older Tacoma. They've got some very nice vehicles coming out of that shop...mine may have been one of them.

The silicone (chip) shortage isn't going away any time soon. Best case scenario is end of this year. So you'll actually be better off waiting a little while. The current vehicle supply shortage is going to get worse before it gets better.

Yup, keep the truck, no regrets in the long run.
