I just did a quick count based on dealer websites. My entire province has 11 Tacomas showing as in stock. A couple of dealers look to not have either Tacomas or Tundras in stock at all.

Yeah I saw the comment about Tacoma owners being "hipsters"....I saw the comment too about breaking out the flannel...well I wear a LOT of flannel, though my jeans are not skinny, just plain old (literally) Wranglers - HAHAHA... but considering I wear flannel and drive a Tacoma; I MUST be HIP.. My oldest daughter (away at college) thinks I'm too old fashioned and wants me to be more "HIP"...well I'm certainly going to embrace the article and tell her I may appear to be an old cowboy, but some folks think I'm hip!!! On Monday, I got a '21 Off Road Crew Cab, manual transmission in Hazelton, PA for $1,120 below MSRP and 1.9% for 60 months. Could have gotten $2,120 below but no financing. Drove 2.5 hours to get it, but after seeing no mark downs and no financing deals in NY/CT area (and I was looking in NJ, MA, VT, NH) and few to no manuals, I figured I couldn't do better. A few years ago - i would believe that pic was a joke and those guys did not exist. However, this pic is hilarious and unfortunately familiar...about a year or 2 ago - my daughter asked my wife and me to drive down to her campus for the day to also have lunch, and meet a boy she liked. We made the drive and met them at a restaurant. We went to the table and she introduced us - he was dressed similarly with the hair and such too.

i put my hand out to shake it, he put his hand out like a 8 year old girl, then said he prefers hugs as opposed the ways of the older generation. i just said horse shi+, and told my wife I would met her in the car and I would see my daughter later in the day after they ate. I certainly had no interest in getting to know that type of guy. I'm certain that makes me a mean old guy, stuck in his ways...but honestly I can live with that.

    That’s your current tacoma demographic

if their moms hugged them as kids - they wouldn’t need manly tacomas to go to the mall.

    HAHAHA

That kid looks like if someone attacked him and his girl on the street or anywhere, he'd wait for her to defend him!! What's with the flannel shirt tied around his waist and the clothes all a size too small?

GOOD GRIEF, it is hard to believe the girls go for this look on a guy!!!!

    Yeah.
Well, I think there are a couple of demographics. There's the hipster kind that buy a Tacoma and come on here complaining about it not driving like a sports car, or other silly complaints that they should have figured out before buying. Then there's the other group that bought it because it is reliable and capable, actually know what a spark plug is and where it goes, can change their own oil, etc. This second group is much less vocal, but we do buy a lot of trucks.

I think so. I only got one fob key and one valet key with a promise that Toyota would mail me a 2nd key at some point when I got my Off Road on Monday.

    Like, so many.
That's interesting. I watch Detail Geek on YouTube and I've never seen him do a Tundra or Tacoma. I guess that explains it.

I'm not really sure what the Tacoma demographic is ... but according to some market research ... the average age of a Tacoma owner is 54, that's well out of man bun territory:

When compared to all midsize pickup truck owners, Toyota Tacoma owners aren’t dramatically different in terms of demographics and psychographics.

"According to J.D. Power data, slightly more women report owning a Tacoma (16% vs. 15%). And while their median age isn’t much lower (54 years for the Tacoma vs. 57 years for the segment), half of Tacoma owners identify as members of Generation X or Y (vs. 42% for the segment). Tacoma owners also earn less money, with a median annual household income of $93,696 (vs. $95,548).

Tacoma owners are less likely to agree that they prefer to buy a vehicle from a domestic company (41% vs. 55%), and both quality and reliability are more important to people who pick the Toyota. J.D. Power data shows that 64% of Tacoma owners strongly agree that quality of workmanship is a first consideration when choosing a vehicle (vs. 59%), and 75% of Tacoma owners strongly agree that reliability is a first consideration (vs. 69%). Otherwise, Toyota Tacoma owners express similar sentiments about vehicle ownership to those of all midsize pickup truck owners.

People who own a Tacoma say their favorite things about the truck are (in descending order) the exterior styling, interior design, driving dynamics, visibility and safety, and climate control system. Owners indicate their least favorite things about the Tacoma are (in descending order) the storage and space and the infotainment system (in a tie), seats, engine/transmission, and fuel economy."

Fun to look at the market data ... I would also say that every generation this country has ever had thought the next generation was soft and their music stunk, too!

If I could fit into the skinny jeans, I would! And I know a lot of these hipsters and they seem okay to me ...

Makes sense. They're all here in this thread complaining about all the things they don't understand about any generation.

Most of y'all don't even know what a hipster actually is. :anonymous:

    Ha!

I live in NY, so I am well versed in hipster culture. I get it that it can be annoying at times but for the most part this is a pretty creative generation. Sure it is easy to poke fun of but these kids are entrepreneurial, creative and starting all kinds of interesting businesses. I would like to personally thank them for the pizza, the coffee, the mixed drinks, the cronuts and the pizza ... did I mention the pizza?

    :)
