OVTune 3.5L Tacoma Supercharger and Twin Turbo Systems

Welding a nut is what had to happen recently on the wife's 4runner. Was taking off the OEM Pro roof rack and two bolts wouldn't come out, the torx heads got stripped. Shit ton of loctite/sealant in there from factory. Drilling didn't work either. Actually broke a bit too. Eventually had to have nuts welded on to remove them.

 

with it being so flush i would be afraid of welding so close to the flange. might weld the broken bolt to the flange

 

I like using a Fender washer first. Then nut, for that reason

 

I like this. I’d like to sell or trade in my truck eventually. It’d be nice if the limitations were built into the tune versus me providing a* do and don’t list for the turbos.

 

you mt guys are holding back, how’s the new tune?!

 

I have not received one. Perhaps someone else has though.

 

So, it seems like Procharger and Magnusson are the only options for these trucks at the moment? What happened to the twin turbo kit that was being discussed back in 2018? I mean, we're 5 years into this truck's run and the options for more power are pretty sparse at this point.

TLDR: The turbos have been in beta testing by a handful of people for the last ~6 months.

 

Also the procharger apparently uses a voltage booster for the fuel pump that is probably not the best option for FI on the 3GT

 

want to include this was just an opinion based on how the pump works.




I have sent out some tune updates, to verify with those people all are good.


There will be an engine protection mode built into the tune that limits your ability to throttle (and even rev) depending on engine temp.

 

Thats friken mint. Canadians will definitely buy that more knowing at minus -40 celsius the engine is protected!

Who else is installed and running? Anyone in process of installing? Anyone receive a kit recently or a fuel pump controller?

 

I sent it to a MT guy, not ATs yet, Mziggy will get a copy once his issue is sorted.
A few FPCs are on the way
And the guy in Canada should be receiving his first box any day by now.
If that helps at all.


The last bit to sort out it is just finishing this patch for cold driving.
Then everything is done.
