Back to welding stuff, I tried putting this "bomb" piggy bank together. Definitely was hard for me and I'm going to try to do another one a little nicer, but good practice.

I think it is a logical progression talking about fire safety speaking from experience if it keeps one house from burning

Like stick welding the gas tank skid while it's on the gas tank? :anonymous:

Next time that thing comes off I am grinding those out and welding it with the mig lol. Oh and it was empty and had been rinsed with water so no fear, but people originally thought I was crazy when I posted it without that information.

I love their stuff and want to get that for my son. But how do you get what you put in, out?

Actually just went and tested the discharge time out of curiosity. Was more like 70 seconds till it started to sputter. Then again I dont measure out exactly 2.5 gallons of water.

Not having a sense of smell is probably part of why im probably more cautious than other people. You smelled it start, I would have kept going till the smoke got to me or i saw it lol.

Def would be awesome to have on hand for welding fires since usually they don't have much chemical agents that cause the fire, just raw heat. Might add that to the shop as well.

Oh, there's a plastic plug that snaps in on the backside to take out the coins.

You could also fill it with carbonated water and charge it with CO2.

Bought a dethatcher/aerator combo a couple weeks ago. Put it to use last weekend. It probably would've held up better if they had used epoxy. There is zero penetration on this...

    Can we say cold lap??

Unless you know what your looking at it looks good to go.

What is bad is when the lifting lugs are welded by the same person.

Not bad for a 5yo.....Could have been welded in India with a coat hanger and a battery. We need our manufacturing back now.
    Sorry for the rant

I still have no idea how the hell to get welds like @deeezy is getting on that piggy bank. These brackets are like super easy joints to weld and I still can't get that consistent "pretty" weld.

I did vert down on the insides since It was already capped on the back side, I didn't think it needed the strength of vert up.

I know I had the machine cranked passed the recommended settings for .025 on 3/16 but still. I think I do make my cursive e's too close to each other. I gotta practice on some scrap again and see if I can finally nail down that technique.

 it was definitely not meant to be, I am my biggest critic and I love welding so much. The problem is I love it so much that I want to be incredible/perfect at it but really haven't put in the time and experience to be yet. But the things I have made with this newish to me skill I can most definitely say I am incredibly proud of.

    Reserected from the dead.
Instead of bothering with the "cursive" style, just do the pause in your travel for 1/3 of a second.

It will look more like the style your trying to achieve.

I never weld up in the corners. Moving down is much easier.

The only real advantage of welding up is to see what your welds are looking like.

I’ve tried several different patterns and best I’ve found is a cursive e with a higher than recommended amperage and slower wire feed for my machine. It took me years of trying to get that ‘mig like tig’ look and I still don’t think mine are great. But for a self taught hobbyist fabricator I’m happy and am constantly learning
