    Keeping it ALIVE!!

Pedal lag/dead spot? At lower shift points 3,2,1 then step on the gas and get lag before it catches the gear? I made changes on the Optimal Engine Torque Map (nm). I increased the first column by 1% and put same numbers in the 850-1000. This has helped me get rid of that annoyance.

More for the new tuners figured I'd share!

Here is a excel sheet I got from @Vlady for shift points gear 1-6/S1-6, put in your numbers and see how they flows. These are my current numbers for curse, Primary shift and ECT.

If your looking for more great information lookup @Stormpeacock under his name are links to other spreadsheets he made!

Those interested in looking at a single map concept for Transmission Torque models here are a few. Mine, @Chadr7858 , and OVTune's example tune in 04B04. I've tried/made several maps Chads has the highest torque under load and worked great while towing but MPG was lower for my taste when not towing. I played with the numbers increasing them in areas I felt where they would be best used and smoothed out in other areas. My goal is to make a tune for MPG and hold gears when climbing steep hills and I think I am about there. Trans temp while towing on the single map concept never got over 208 degrees going up and down steep hills.

Concur..Went over the pass last Monday on your tune. From my house to the pass is a constant uphill for 45 miles with some dips.
I was staying between 70-80 mph all the way to the top. Primarily stayed in 5th due to the speed and the grade, last 3-4 miles to the top in 4th. I hit max temp of 202° at the top (outside temp at the top was 77°).
Also, the single table settings help with 4-5 upshift at speeds above 70 mph.
Mpg going up anded up at 16.5, going down ~22 (4 people + 200 lb. Of stuff).

I have spent many a drive home contemplating how to fix this. Thanks for sharing! I will give it a try.

What parameters do you think the ECU is modifying to increase engine torque? If it were opening the throttle, you would just end up moving to a different spot on the load axis, right? So advancing ignition? Advancing timing?

OLD school trial and error! IMO the aggressive airload/throttle tables was making the ECU react quicker then the transmission brain could comprehend at slow speed and lower shift schedule. I studied the stock maps and noticed between 850 and 1000 the numbers were all jumbled up. I first increased the optimal torque map by 1% across the board but settled for 1% in the first column and matched the higher numbers in 850 and 1000 and the lag went away. I also went to a custom single transmission map across the board and I feel it has helped transmission and ECU communication. Also made minor changes to the 2.0 base intake valve angle map that has help me in other areas. I'm NO expert I just read, study, and do test runs to see what works. I attached my Airload-Timing stuff for review. Several folks for have helped me just figured time to give back!

Yes the truck definitely drives like the communication between engine and transmission is not fast enough. You can mask it with all these edits but I still get the feeling at times of pressing the gas pedal and the engine saying “hold up we gotta wait for the trans to figure out what the hell its gonna do here first”

Can this be applied to any tune
I’ve noticed a dead/lag in pretty much every tune I’ve tired.

Yes...If the numbers don't look the same just go 1% in the first column then in the first 2 rows make the numbers match and put the high of the two in there all the way across.

I'm not going to bother looking for it, but at one point in time Mat stated it wasn't necessary.

That's the real issue. "I cleared values and my truck runs like shit, this tune sucks!"
