The 888 & 887s are the same spring weight (590lbs) w/ the 888 being 5mm taller than the 887 (why, idk).

I've ordered (haven't shipped yet) 5100s w/ 888s for my dclb so we'll see! Already installed the AAL and I have been pleasantly surprised at the ride quality--though I have the weight of a cap on them. Last Tacoma I had was a 1st gen w/ a cap and the AALs got rid of the sag but even with the weight of a cap the ride was harsh.

I've got the 888's and 5100's and I added a 1/4" spacer as well when they first sagged. now they've sagged some more and I'm disappointed for sure. I'd like to add an SSO bumper and possibly winch but I think I'll have to swap out the springs. Very frustrating

The problem is no one bothers to actually check spring rates. All but the 886 are 590 which I believe is even LOWER than Factory. Thats why anything but the 886's will sag right away.

That's interesting. I would probably have less sag with my stock springs then.

I am running 888s in front on a DCLB 2nd gen, it is a wee bit stiff, but the springs are still only a few days old. At least 2.75" inches lift in front on nitrocharger struts. Offroading they do feel stiff, but I'm fine with it as I'm still young and don't care.

Not apples to apples pictures but pre & post 5100s on 888s & single AAL w/ overload left in. The initial gains are:

    RF: 2 ⅓"
    RR: 2 ⅔"
    LF: 2 ⅔"
    LR: 3"

Have only driven ~1-1.5k on it thus far but initial reaction is positive. I'm not wheeling, just needed to get off the bump stops in the rear but wanted to keep a relatively level stance. Yes, spacers would have been cheaper but the additional front travel is appreciated.

Will update ride heights after ~5k

I’m running 888 5100 & Deaver aal. My buddy is stock sr5 4x4 for comparison. Also we’re both on 245/75/16

Hey there! Same issue with my 2019 DCLB. Running full OME medium package(888 springs) and have about 2 inch rake. I got about 1.5" lift in front & 2.5" rear. Have you switched to the 886's yet? Contemplating this too. I know they are 3mm shorter but hoping the higher spring rate will give a little extra lift to help get back to the normal 1" rake.

Same setup from above finally swapped out the 245/75 for 265/75

Is anybody in here with 888s feeling a heavy clunk when the shock extends quickly (like driving over a pot hole and the front wheels drop suddenly). I’m getting a solid 3” of lift in the front with 888 and a 3/8” spacer on OME nitro chargers. I think my struts are basically sitting almost fully extended at rest so when I go over pot holes they fully extend and I feel them maxing out.

but plenty of people on here are reporting nice ride quality with 888s so I’m confused.

I’ve looked around under there and nothing is hitting (swaybar, uca etc). Everything feels tight. So I think it’s the shocks over extending.

Are you on stock UCA's? At 3" lift, it could be your UCA slamming into the coil at droop. Check the coil for rub marks.
