Just bought my new taco last month and the temp plate is about to expire. Got mail from DMV yesterday with another temp plate set to expire in March 2022. are they really that behind on making plates?

Working on the never ending list
    Yes they are

I got mine on 03/20/21. and just got my plate yesterday the registration showed up last week
On top of that the almighty powers @ MVD would not transfer my plate ( three letters & four numbers )
sent out a plate that has ( one number followed by two letters & one number followed by two letters )

The biggest two part ' Slap in the Face ' (1) Any plate rebate* the MVD now holds for you without interest
until you do your next on line trans action. (2) They are still charging the $32.00 ' Public Safety Fee ' that was
only to last 1yr, Four Years Ago

    * I traded two vehicles in on my Tacoma, a 2020 & a 2019.

ADOT is still getting away with charging their $32 fee. ADOT asked for the state to increase the rate from $8 to $16, but the state legislators didn't put that part in there. So, ADOT went straight for $32 starting 01.01.2019. I'm surprised that didn't get lowered, as there was a huge hype about it at the beginning of Jan. 2019 and some state legislators were beyond pissed that ADOT did that too.

Edit: the $32 I'm talking about is the registration fee that use to be only $8.

Are you waiting for a personalized plate? Don’t they have a stockpile of readymade plates?

In Pennsylvania, where I live, titles and license plates are done through private tag agencies rather than the DMV. There is a LONG waiting list for personalized plates due to COVID, but generic plates are readily available and I got my railroad specialty plate in January 2021 in like ten minutes!

Temp tag was set to expire April 26 and it arrived about 3 days before that. I wasn't worried if it went over
it's not my ( or your ) fault - if the state can't produce it don't write me a ticket - write them one.

For fun I saw an article where some outfit is producing Digital plates - they are wired up ( or may be solar ) and
display your license number digitally.... what is kinda cool about this is if your vehicle is stolen, a code can be sent
and the license plate will display "STOLEN" ... making it easier to recover.

I would double check on the digital plates, I know several years back many states had a ban on digital license plates as they were not considered legal. They were sold as "Show Items" that could be customized by the owner. They were really popular in the motorcycle world because the rider could "turn the plate off" if they wanted and cops couldn't see them.

I had thought the $32 BS fee was just for two years as well?
My plates came last Friday, were to expire on Sunday, got um just in time.

$32 is a hiway safety fee, they used to get paid from gas taxes.i don't know where the extra gas tax money is going now, prolly in Ducy's pocket like the 4 million he took from the OHV sticker program that was going to be used to buy the private property Coke Ovens area to turn into an OHV use space.
