    I can relate.
    The doctor asked me:
"Did you know you also have planar fasciitis on that foot?"

    What's that?, I said. :notsure:

"This", (as he poked at a knot in the arch of my foot).
    Ow!

Tales from the Appalachian Trail with Gritto. :)

So I'm sitting on a rock admiring that Black Racer snake.
I needed an excuse to sit down and have a smoke anyway. :notsure:

I hear behind me: clatter clatter, thump thump thump.
    WTF?
I turn around and there's this guy, ass over teakettle, at the bottom of the steep slope I had just come down.
He had lost his footing on the rocks (did I ever mention that the AT in PA is notorious for the rocks?)
The clattering was from his trekking poles (they look like ski poles, for those who don't know).

    I sing out:
    "Hey man, are you okay?"
He, obviously startled, looked up and said: "I didn't know you were there. Yeah, I guess".
"You don't look okay", I said (blood was all over his face where he face planted).

He slowly gets up and says: "Nothing broken, I think", and proceeds to wipe his face with a bandanna.

    So we talk awhile.
Turns out he had just retired, like me.
He asks if I'm a "through hiker".
    "Maybe", I said.
"You look like it, with that big pack. Where did you start?"
    "Waynesboro", I said.
"Wow, me too, that's 200 odd miles now."

I laugh: "Oh, you started at Waynesboro Virginia. That's a pretty small pack you have there."
"Yeah, I stay at motels as much as possible. I go ultra-ultra light and fast. I stayed in Smithsburg, MD last night."

"You sure go fast alright. Next time you face plant you may not be so lucky."
Then out loud I said: "Well, good luck to you", as I rose and hoisted my pack.

Within a few minutes he was way ahead of me and out of sight. :notsure:

    Morning folks :pccoffee:

Have you driven one lately? It's a surprising difference. We've known people who will run their Tundras on the trail and we considered it for a quick second swapping our Drifter for a Nomad last minute, but she's super thick. There are trails here that wouldn't even be possible in it.

    But the torque...

I was born in the early 80s :D

I love that there's a market for this. She's gotta have an etsy store or something to share with us :boink:

My unsolicited .02, but I would caution against listing ahead of knowing where you'll go unless you have a rental or trailer you can pop into, if needed. Houses just sell super quickly right now and I've heard plenty of stories of people searching for short term rentals (that they can't find) because their house sold within days.

Good luck on the move though...I think? Assuming you want to sell lol.

You have me confused with someone else. I’m the guy who wants to auction off your bussy in the back row at the Pilot. 60/40 split. Say you will.

The person that wants the house is a guy Phil knows. It’s not on the market. In the past we always give 30 day possession of our houses. Talk about stressful, working full-time, three kids very active in sports, a 130 pound Doberman and needing to find a place to live that will take us for six months while we build the next house. I have no idea how I lived through those days but somehow it worked out. I absolutely would not do that now. We do have our eye on a house on the river. It’s not on the market yet. We’re trying to get in touch with the people to see if we can work something out before it goes on the market. I love the house and location I’m in now. I don’t want to move but we do spend a lot of time on the river. I wouldn’t mind, I guess. The price is right so not sure we should let the opportunity slip by.

That sucks. Where were you when you got injured? Did you meet any weirdos along the trail? I know that there are a lot of weirdos there cause I see them on the bridge at Delaware Water Gap.

I try to suppress all my memories of moving because it's always sucked.

:fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed:Good luck on getting ahold of the owners of the river house and getting that to work out. My sister once sold her house to the person she was buying from and it worked out nicely.

I didn't even make it to Caledonia.

Yeah, I saw a lot of weirdos.
Funny thing is, they're the most talkative ones.
There was this one guy at Old Forge...

I had read that the number of people on the AT went way up last year with the pandemic.
    Makes sense to me.
I must have seen at least a dozen day hikers each day, plus a few through hikers and section hikers.
And at every shelter there were mixed groups of young men and women staking out the shelters for themselves by noon.
    They obviously weren't through-hiking. :p
(Shelters typically are next to a spring so people congregate there overnight.)
I had to use my tent exclusively and listen to them party.

The last model year tundra I drove was my brothers ‘16 when he had it. He also had a ‘11 before that(had a car in between the two) I don’t do much off roading. What off roading I do I could probably do with a full size truck and a good set of AT tires. What makes me want one is all the added room inside and the larger bed that’s wider and deeper.
