Waterspot removal

.. what are the best ways to remove waterspots on glass and paint???

 

On the glass you can use 50/50 vinegar/water and some 0000 steel wool will do the trick. Chemical guys makes a good one for the paint .

Clay Bar works great. But get that elbow greased up and ready first.

 

On glass I've used spot not. Be careful though as it's an acid.

For paint a good old fashioned clay bar does the trick. Just be sure to reapply wax or something because the clay strips off most protective wipe on things like wax or ceramic

 

If you're in Da 808 I recommend dropping by Don Quixote and picking up a bottle from the auto section of MX7 glass water spot remover and the MX7 for paint. Its made in Waipahu so you know its designed for the water spots out here. I just recommend washing your car before and after applying MX7. The window spot remover is really gritty and the paint one is acidic so just make sure you follow the instructions on the bottle. I use it on my truck and it works great.

I realize that however I have used it for multiple cars that had bad water spots from sprinkler systems that were tough and baked on. It worked like a charm, have not used it on tile, bathrooms, paint, etc. I used it on windshields, side windows and even the side mirrors with zero issues. I would recommend it as I will use it in the event I get spots again. I also followed it up with Rainx

 

50/50 water Vinegar is always a great choice for glass.

For paint, it's more complicated if you want to do it right. Ideally, you start with the least aggressive and work your way up to the most aggressive on a test spot so you're not taking off more paint than you need to. If you still see it after a wash, one option is to clay bar it (not an option if you're coated). Just be aware you'll want to follow up with a polish if you don't like the microscratches it'll very likely leave. The next step up (will work on coated cars) is to use a waterspot remover like kamikazee or optimum made (chemical guys makes one too). If that doesn't work, you're probably too late and it etched into your paint. You'll now need to machine polish it. If that doesn't work, you'll need to compound it.

If you're lazy or coated, skip straight to the waterspot remover.
