Gorgeous build out @crolison ! You've really done something special. So, question: now that you've had the camper for over a full year, any important new insights about the camper itself (not your build out of it)? How's it holding up to use/wear and tear? In particular, how does it handle serious weather (rain and wind)? I can't find anywhere on Jay's website about the type of canvas that he uses. Is it Sunbrella material? Something else treated for waterproofing? Also, any trouble with water getting in at this seam (highlighted area) during rain?

    upload_2019-8-4_15-30-56.jpg

Lastly, did you make/get a thermal liner for the "tent" portion? I'm ready to pull the trigger on one, but am still trying to sort through some of these questions. Thanks for any insight you can offer.

Thanks! I’ve had a couple small issues wear and tear wise but those have been taken care of on newer models of the camper. The windows slightly leaked in lots of rain from the actual stitching, but that is sold with some pvc raft glue. That is the only leak I’ve had, they are sealed from the “factory” now. All the door seals have been re designed for larger sealing area. I could get my doors to leak if I used a car wash pressure washer directed at exactly the seam. Never have leaked in actual use.

That area shown I believe the fabric is sandwiched with a rubber neoprene strip to prevent any leaks, I’ve never had any without the rubber strips.

My fabric is a pvc coated fabric, the new stuff is also but a different weight for easier to fold when closing. I haven’t made a thermal line for it and doubt I will with the heater. Coldest I’ve slept is low 20s, the heater kicked on once an hour for around 4-5 minutes and it was 65 degrees when I woke up. The heater was on the 6th out of ten settings.

Swapped out the stock trans cooler with a little bit bigger one and a fan, using the tru cool 4589 and a generic 7” fan. Also added a pull down for the rear door.

Looks great overall but those yellow wheels are, uh, contrasting. I'd replace the bungees wherever possible as well, I hate those things. I've seen the result of them breaking and someone on another forum I'm on just had a family member lose an eye because of one. The number of eye injuries from them annually is really surprising.

Love the size and power, with only slightly worse mpg. Sometimes is a little big on the trail, but with a kid and dog works a lot better

@crolison what did you use for a bed "mattress" in your first tacoma build?
