Giving a cat ear infection meds is proving to be hazardous to my own health.

Have to 'fill' his ear canal with the ear wash fluid, let him shake it out then apply several drops of the ear medication.

Filling a cat's ear canal with fluid is about as exciting as it sounds, he basically turns into the Tazmanian Devil

Get to do this fun activity twice daily for the next 7 days at least

 

Yeah. It's a nightmare alright. Whenever l have to give my cats medication, or trim their claws. I give them a couple little treats right afterwards.
I try to associate the experience with getting something good.

 

Unfortunately the vet also said he's obese, so no treats for this guy lol. He's actually never really been food motivated or cared much for treats, he even eats less than you'd think given his size. He's just always been a chonk. Trying to up his physical activity more.

Luckily he's always been pretty ok with claw trimming, I'm able to do that without much fuss.

My wife's cat though is a lethal weapon when you try and trim his claws

try adding giving them a diabetes insulin shot as well...that has been my routine for the past few years. Our Bella had ear mites as a kitten, and is constantly scratching as the scabs sort of consistently itch...I have to do her ears like that for 3-4 weeks, twice a year

 

Yeah we had to give my wife's old cat Mo insulin shots for his diabetes, I don't miss that at all
