Does anyone have any experience with the factory lift on a TRD Sport?

I recently traded in my 2018 TRD Offroad for a 2021 TRD Sport manual. Had the dealership throw in a set of AT tires 265 70 17. Also getting a factory lift.

I've had the truck for a week and notice the handling on street is noticeably better. One of the reasons I switched. 95% daily driver. 5% offroad maybe.

My question. Will the 2inch factory lift drastically change the street handling that I now appreciate from the TRD Sport?

It's gonna drive different. A factory lift. So a block lift from the dealership? It's gonna be worse if that's what they're doing. If they're doing the shocks, it won't be as bad but you'll feel the difference. If you've never drove a lifted truck you'll notice the difference.

If you have any mechanic experience, your spending a lot more than you need to for that lift. Can get something similiar or considerable better for less $$ if you can install yourself.

I was thinking the added $$ and keeping the TSS features and warranty was worth it to me. Also wasn't in the mood to do it myself.

The tss features all work fine on my truck thats been lifted and all the others that have lifted theres. U dont lose ur warranty. Even if it did affect the the warranty, lets say a cv joint or front axle went bad in the first 36k miles. U will have already paid for that repair a few times over with the extra $$$ u have paid for having the trd lift installed.
It also sounds like there is a stop sale on the trd lift now so unless the dealer has some already in stock it wont be available for a while.

My '21 OR 4x4 6MT will be here in around 3 weeks and I've toyed with the idea of the TRD factory lift. My understanding is that it comes with TRD tuned Bilstein shocks in addition to the lift itself. I would *think* that off road tuned shocks would negate the better on road handling you feel with the Sport. Even if that wasn't the case, I'm sure you would notice a bit of a handling difference merely from raising the center of gravity (2" front, 1" rear).

I would have to assume that yes, the ride will be affected. I’m not super familiar with the TRD lift so I can’t say one way another how it will feel on the road but there is another thread on this forum with some first hand experience from other users.

Just curious, why do you want the OEM lift over other aftermarket options?

-I've heard people having issues with warranty after bringing in lifted trucks. As well my dealership wouldn't confirm yes or no if they would honor the drivetrain warranty on a lifted truck.
-I worked the price into my financing.
-It seems like a fine lift.
-I've read some people have trouble getting their TSS working after a lift.
-I really like the Heritage Grill.
-I have lifted trucks in the past, but don't feel like doing the labor this time. My time = $$

If I upgraded my suspension and it didn't affect the ride quality I'd be disappointed.

That said, "drastic" is a bit subjective, but my n=1 is that upgrading to a King shock based suspension was hardly noticeable for daily driving except when encountering large bumps etc. I do not drive my truck like a sports car though either. The suspension upgrade was however a nice upgrade off the road.

I cant seem to find any direct info on what is different in the Sport vs offroad suspension. I think it is more that just different shocks. Swaybar/control arm. All I can find is sport tuned suspension with no details on actual difference.

If anyone has that info. I would appreciate it.

My understanding is the Off Road suspension setup is progressive, so it's soft in the early part of the suspension travel and firms up as it moves through its travel. So it works well off road soaking up smaller bumps, but firms up enough to prevent bottoming on bigger hits. Down side is more body roll and nose dive when braking. The Sport is a digressive setup, so it's firm at the beginning of the travel. That helps with on-road handling, but also means you feel more of the small bumps.

I think the TRD lift kit uses your stock springs, but I don't know if the shocks are digressively valved liked the Sport shocks.

By all accounts, only the shocks are different.

Went ahead with the lift. As stated above the ride is a bit more TRD off-road like. I notice street imperfections more now. Haven't done anything to stress the system yet.

For 5% off road is the reason I went with the Sport. I drive my truck like a sports car lol!

I'm actually waiting for the build on my truck and was wondering about that factory lift. Are you able to just purchase the lift? Or are all of the extras included?
Also, how much more did you pay for the kit? 1500 isn't much, and if the truck is being built I don't see why they would charge extra.

I do as well. Other problem us Canadian's face is no double cab OR with manual transmission so I was forced into a Sport just so I can row gears.

It is dealer installed after the fact. But keep in mind it also comes with the Pro grille and TSS garnish etc. Plus they warranty it.

Bought a new '21 TRD OR a week ago. I just placed an order for the lift at the dealer and am hoping for it to be in next week. How long did it take for them to do the install and what was your out the door cost? Just trying to get a comparison. I really wish the dealer had offered it when I bought the truck, but it wasn't even mentioned to me. Loosing 2 years off the suspension warranty because it was never offered at purchase sucks. But I don't think there is anything I can do about it now.

Don't they warranty the suspension they sold and installed?
