And then those video game kids go to the work place. :frusty: << the employer.

We had some (well a few..) who genuinely seemed to want to work and do a decent job but it was though they didn't understand how to work if that makes any sense.

Working hard at sweeping the floor in an amazingly unproductive manner or being mystified by how to puzzle boxes on a pallet for example. Obviously they never played with wooden blocks as kids. -- did I just date myself there?

I thought about trying one of the 40V Ryobi’s, 90 days to bring it back if I don’t like it. The problem I seen was they have a safety shutoff if you’re on a 45 degree slope.

If my yard had 45 degree slopes I had to mow, i'd just buy a goat lol.

I have a 40v ryobi line trimmer that is very good. I have had it for like 3-4 years, no issues.

I’m thinking of a cordless trimmer... dad gave me his Ryobi 2 stroker... cleaned carb and just installed a 20.00 easy feed head on it yesterday.... the old quick change head kept blowing line out to the point I was chase new line across my yard o_O.... you know how frustrating it is using it in the first place and then chasing line that you just put in around the yard or street depending on how far it shoots out!!! I was ready to bend in on my tree! Figured 20.00 is cheaper than 100.00 for the cordless... we’ll give it a shot.

I’m going to measure the slope tomorrow. Ryobi says no greater than 15 degrees, but that’s Ryobi. I’ve got the 40V chainsaw, it’s great to take up on the mountain for smaller stuff.

I was able to shred below pto speed, saved about 1/3 tank of fuel by doing so, the plant and weed material was not very thick or tall. For us receiving over 5" of rain last week, the ground is stupid dry, nothing but sand here, requires 4wd.

I went ahead pushed over probably a 1500lb tree, and stacked it on a burn pile, it's trunk was cracked quite a bit.

    Lawn mower tire question:

Got a tire that has slow leaks in the weather checking of a side wall.

I know a tube will be required or a complete replacement of tire.

Tire is $90, Tube is $12.

How long can I hope to get out of this tire if I just put in a tube?

The tread has almost zero wear. I hate to throw money at something that is a wearable item.

The tires run at 20 or so PSI. I don't see an issue, but would like a second opinion.

It should last a long time with a tube in it. I’ve done this to some of mine.

My house sits about 25 ft above the river. I have about 80 ft of gently sloping lawn behind the house, then this awful hill, then another 50 or so feet of fairly flat lawn then the river.

This is right after I cut a path into the right half so I could get the lawn tractor down to mow. The other half is steeper and a huge mess. I can't really do anything other than weedwack the entire thing. I have a Makita 36V that does a great job.

    upload_2021-5-10_16-12-29.jpg

My calculations put this at about a 30% grade.

Tubing is an excellent solution. My tiller tires even have a few (minor) cracks in the sidewalls. Tubes in, running just absolutely fine.

24” board that’s level, 13” from the tip down to the flat, does that work out to a 54 degree slope? Worst part of the back yard.

Tube it, use some talc or baby powder when you install tube, put it on the tube and inside tire, not heavy, just a reasonable dusting, acts as a lubricant to allow the tube to move while inflating, and not get twisted or pinched as easy.

Old school tire tricks, gotta pass em on... to those that are willing

find an old garage that has a tire machine and a Coats cabinet, you’ll likely find a can of talc in there too....

You need a Flymow.... I made bank with one in highschool cutting back yards on terraced back and side yards that were pretty steep, would make a regular mower smoke or knock in short order. Pair of golf cleats (with actual spikes, old school) and swing side to side.
