I hear ya. It was really bugging me at first but I noticed after driving for a bit, it wasn't right in my line of sight specially when I'm focusing to my direction. But glad it was repairable. Thx to the state of Idaho! lol

Installed the oem roof rack on Friday. Use silicone or better yet “silaprene” gray around the bolts and brackets to the cab they will leak. Came back from a trip on Sunday morning to find it leaking on both sides after a rain storm. Also as an FYI the bolts that mount the rack to the cab bracket are m6x20mm 1.00 pitch. Just in case one strips one out and you need to get new ones at your local true value hardware store.

 

1. LaminX fog stickers (until I finish school in a year and can put money into higher quality lighting.
2. R4T remote tailgate lock (no more flimsy key)
3. MESO map lights (the little bulbs suck)

Spent some time with the old man and made my Tacoma a little more “mine”... even though everyone does these mods.

 

Finally got the car seat situation figured out. Only took trying every car seat available to me (4 in total) but I found one that fits without greatly affecting front seat comfort.

When the kids get a bit older, grab some of these. They fit in the rear door pockets when not in use.

Remember doing this with an '02 Tundra Access Cab (Pre-Double Cab & CrewMax). I have twins, so there was no avoiding me eating the steering wheel if I had to take them anywhere. I'm glad those days are behind me.

I'm currently looking for a replacement seat for my toddler. The one I have that is supposed to grow with her, is too damn big. Actually, the base is too damn big, which puts her legs right up against the front seats. Every slim one I find, the wife shoots down for not being safe.

On another note, tell me more about those headrest monitors. Are they stand alone, or do you have a hidden DVD player somewhere? How do you power them?

 

They are standalone dvd headrest displays. You press a button on the front and the display opens upwards to allow inserting a dvd. Each headrest has 1 AV output and 2 AV inputs as well for auxiliary devices. I currently have them connected together with hidden wiring so that what one child is watching can easily be displayed on the opposite headrest and vice versa. I really like them from a technology standpoint (image quality, inputs, outputs…), however they do not go up and down as smoothly as the OEM headrests and the headrest post are a smaller diameter than OEM, requiring you to use the included spacer inserts. I really like them and I never move my headrest up or down, so that one negative aspect doesn’t bother me. I got them on Amazon and they aren’t sold there anymore. Just google “BOSS Audio HIR70BGTA”.

edit: regarding power, I have wire run to the fuse box under the dash and used an add a fuse off the power outlet no 1 fuse. So far no problems in a year being set up that way. Well once I found a solid ground after the first week I have had no problems that is.

I miss when my kids were little but I don't miss car seats... Lol

 

Finally got my PRP custom seat covers in! Now I just have to find a day where I feel like destroying my hands to install them!

 

Finally finished up (well, almost) my DIY drawer/deck for the Grandpa Canopy.

Still sorting out if I need to box in the little cubbyholes in the back...I'll play with it a bit and see what works.

BTW, you know how you see these home built projects with the perfect finished metal trim? This is NOT that kind of project. I'm pretty certain that in order to get the perfect 45 degree cut and exact length on a piece of angle aluminum (and for the record, that is pronounced al-YOU-min-ee-um) you need to have access to Harry Potter-ish black magic. And you need to sacrifice a medium sized mammal on a pyre.

I don't have that. The magic, nor the furry creature. The neighbour's pet goat is safe. For the moment.

3/4 inch plywood, some UHMW plastic, about a million screws and some wood glue and Rustoleum paint....my single concession to a 'cool tool' was a Kreg jig

I can add some dividers as I suss out my needs, p'raps some rubber matting to keep things from sliding about

And apparently I still need to add a second coat of paint, and dust, too.

 

Pick a hot day. Not that that will help the seat covers, but if it is warm you needn't feel guilty about drinking cold beer while you are torturing yourself. And the beer does in fact help relieve the discomfort in you hands.

It's a well-known fact. Look it up.

 

Thats the plan. The warm weather is actually supposed to help the covers stretch a bit easier as well so it's a win win!
