Freebies from dealership?

if you purchased your truck new I am curious if you were able to get anything free from the dealership? deposit 15/04/2021, delivered 30/04/2021, pickup 03/05/2021

I asked for roof rack and tow hitch..... didn't realize I need only ask for the ball.

Sales person was unable to deliver on roof rack even though they had them lying around he told me; said management would not give in.

When I picked up, I was able to get the sale person to throw in a bed liner, and put on the 6000lbs ball for the hitch.

edit* mines came with rubber mats all around, and the new cloth mats were in a sealed plastic bag

When I bought my '92 pickup, it was at a time when they stopped considering a rear bumper standard equipment. I made them put one on to make the sale. That was a silly time.

Most of the time, they have all these dealer-added things like "Vehicle Protection Package" which is basically trying to charge you $250 for a bottle of wax. These are obviously ways to pad the price a bit, and they know what they add to the sticker is WAY above what it actually costs them. Those are easy to negotiate on if you need to get to that level of detail. I've never paid sticker, and I basically ignore them as part of the MSRP.

Even if they "give" you something like an OEM roof rack, they still have to account for it (pay for it and pay someone to install it) and account for it in part of the sale. So it is best to get that done as part of the sales contract. That's basically what they did with my '92 -- added the bumper and then subtracted the cost off.

 

I got a free hat. I no longer have the truck, but still have the hat

 

Dealer threw in a bed mat when I bought my 2020. Different dealer threw in all weather mats for the Tundra I bought before that.

 

I too got a nice hat, but have since lost it. What do you want for yours?
