I'd like to install extendable tow mirrors on my G3, but I'm being challenged to find mirrors that feature, power, heated, turn-signals and blind spot monitoring. Does anyone have recommendations?

    Thanks for your response :)

You can paint or plastidip those chromes.

Thank you for your advice :)
I didn't think chrome could be reliably painted, but it's certainly an open option.
Please tell me more about plastidip?

It's addictive, so be careful.

But seriously, it's an easy way to reversibly paint something.

I basically have the same question. Just purchased a 2021 TRD Sport, and I need towing mirrors. I have Trailridge mirrors on my 2006 and they seem to work fine. KissmyTaco, other than the chrome issue, which I agree needs to be plati dipped black, did you install the mirror you llnked to above on a 2021? Did you have any issues or lose any of the functionality of your factory tow mirrors? A1 says they will not work on a 2021, seems like they should.

I passed on them for now, but I have a 2017. Do the 2021's have a different package in the mirrors? Different features besides turn, heat and BSM? unless they changed the connector which I would not put past Toyota.

My stock mirrors are motorized, heated, have turn signals and have a blind spot monitor. Sounds like they should work, unless as you say Toyota has made a connection or fitment change of some kind. 1A says they won't work so I guess I won't mess with them. What kind of extension did you use? Sounds like my only alternative for right now. Thanks

I went ahead and got the Trail Ridge mirrors (chrome) and I'll plastidip them once I have them installed. The mirrors are about twice as big as OEM mirrors. I think they'll do just fine :)

Those tow mirrors got mixed reviews which always made me leery for such a hefty price. So I kept the stock mirrors and installed a trailer camera instead. I have pulled it through a lot of rush hours in a lot of cities, and never felt like I had a blind spot. Trailer is 17x8.

Edit: when I looked for mirrors in 2018-2019, these had about 50 or so reviews on Amazon. Now they have none. Very sketch.

My trailer came with the rear-view camera, and it's great, but I crave a better view of my sides. I'm hoping for the best :)

I would love to hear your review if/when you get them.

From memory there were two common complaints about those.

    A) they shook like crazy when in tow mode. About a third of Amazon reviews used to say that, but to be fair there were also a few reviews that said "I never had the shaking problem." There were posts on here about people looking to figure out how to tighten them up, but I don't remember if they ever found a solution.

    B) the fisheye is fixed to the same board as the main mirror, so there's no way to adjust them independently.

Neither of those are disastrous, they just sound like they might need some tinkering upon install. :D

Same problem here. Can't see around my 20' camper. The truck pulls it like a dream, but it's nerve wracking as hell to change lanes or merge onto the freeway

    Good:
    Larger mirrors farther out.

Relatively easy to install (if you don't drop nuts down inside the door taking off the OEM mirrors.)

The electronics work as expected, although I have not really had a chance to test the BSM alert yet.

    Not So Good:
You have to use the OEM mounting hardware because none other is provided.

Fit up is marginal. The plastic panel that fits against the door jamb doesn't fit flush at the top. I had to seal a 2 mm Gap with black silicone on both mirrors.

The mirrors have minor vibration, but not enough to make you want to return them.

The blind spot mirrors are located on the upper outside corner of the mirrors, where they should be on the inner bottom corners.

Next project: convert to rear disc brakes. Has anyone done this with their Tacoma?
