So, the United States is one of, if not the, most pollution-free nations in the world. But I digress. As far as removing emissions controls from your vehicle being "illegal" (without arguing about you not being allowed to do whatever you want with property you own) here are a few other current laws on the books to keep in mind:

    • If you have a lantern attached to the front of your vehicle, it’s legal to drive the wrong way down a one-way street (in Alabama).
    • It’s against the law to tie dogs to the rooves of passenger vehicles (in Alaska).
    • After 9 pm, you can get a ticket for blasting your horn in from of establishments that serve sandwiches or cold drinks (in Arkansas).
    • It’s illegal to jump from a car moving 65 mph or faster (in California).
    • It’s illegal to sleep on the roadways (also in California).
    • It’s illegal to drive black cars on Sundays (in certain parts of Colorado).
    • It’s against the law to shoot animals from your vehicle unless you are killing a whale (in Tennessee).
    • You can be ticketed for having a gorilla in your back seat (in Massachusetts).
    • You can’t ride camels on the highway (in Nevada).
    • It’s illegal to ride on the roof of a taxi cab (in Ohio).
    • It’s illegal to leave sheep alone in a truck (in Montana).
    • You can’t drive a red car on Lake Street in Minneapolis (in Minnesota).
    • It’s illegal to park in front of Dunkin Donuts (in Maine).

There are many more. So keep this in mind...

The issue is, of course, that phrase known as "prosecutorial discretion".

You gotta be an engineer. Everything you said was technically correct and none of it was relevant to the conversation.

LOL pretty close, a coder, however you may have not seen the forest for the trees. The point being that laws are ignored all day long in this country. Especially if you live in a state (or in my case, a county) that does not require emissions controls. I'd rather have more horsepower and better gas mileage than cowtow to these requirements. Very similar to the low water requirements of dishwashers, etc, etc...but of course an "engine", which is actually a complex system of components, that has been designed to operate properly this way from the factory, requires more money and time and effort to retune when you start fiddling, so I'll probably leave the cats on my truck and put money into lights and heated seat covers and a winch and..and...

Who told you the United States is one of the least polluted counties? OMG, people. The Dunkin Donuts is ONE location in Maine that has traffic restrictions because it’s near a school and shit. You just grabbed that and everything else off some dumb listicle on some web page. And you dutifully shared it with us. To justify how you don’t like some rules but want horsepower. I don’t even know where to start, but I’m pretty sure it involves more stories about my youth.

Oh, I get it. Every one of us commits multiple felonies each week without knowing it. Laws on the books that are only loosely enforced, not enforced, or only tacked on when you are nailed for other stuff. And a simple OV tune to the 91 octane setup will do significantly more to improve drivability than the removal of a cat will provide.

The US is one of the least polluting nations on the planet. You will find us at position #84 for air quality (https://www.iqair.com/us/world-most-polluted-countries)

Okay now, let's be careful here since this is really not a forum for this kind of stuff. To your point, the World Health Organization is the source. We are right there with the other low numbers ( http://gamapserver.who.int/gho/interactive_charts/phe/oap_exposure/atlas.html ). This country also one of the lowest polluters of the oceans. So you see, it doesn't matter where you check, you can always find a website that says what you want it to say. But again, nobody needs to be banned from TW or cause drama, so emotions should be checked at the door lol.

:) (smiley here to reduce any aggressive feelings)

I don't mean to derail this thread, but which one is the one with the upstream o2 sensor, one or two? One of the bolts that holds the sensor has somehow been sheared off and the shop is telling me I need to replace the entire cat and sensor.
