Leer 100r with windors, headliner, and rails for a roof rack (that I will build). The wife and I will be using it as a camping set-up so I will build a drawer system to sleep on as well.

Anything I should look out for before installation in a couple months?
    - A few people said you have to seal the forward part of the bed with silicon to prevent leaking.
    - Also adding a tailgate seal to prevent dust and dirt entering.
    - I guess I will have to get bed stiffeners.
    - I don't know how much it weighs but, I have Dakar HDs so I should be good...hopefully it'll level the truck out a bit. I had a RTT with rack and once I removed it, noticed how bumpy the back end feels.
    - What system does leer use for roof mounting? t-nuts maybe?

I added bed stiffeners and pulled off the front rail and side bed caps and put a strip of butyl rubber along everything. Need to seal the tailgate yet, but can do that with the cap on

How did you come out price wise? Long bed? I am also leaning toward a 100R but also thinking Soft Topper.

    Stock for now.. maybe
The dealer you ordered from should do a free install. My dealer did a good job. If you're going to be on any kind of rough roads I would suggest bed stiffeners especially if you put a rack on top and use it. Dealer should have correct hardware too. You won't sag with your HD leads. I'm still stock and fine

Make sure you put in the correct shipping address, a common mistake... should be going to my address for quality control and installation test fit!

My Leer canopy came with a Thule system... BTW, Thule translates to "fucking expensive" from Swedish to English.
Love my canopy though... 2014, carpet interior, net headliner, front slider.

I have reinstalled the canopy once, adding two layers of camper tape in front.

For my short bed and all the options listed, it came out to around 3k. Apparently the only dif between the 100r and 100xr is the way the rear window latches. 100R has two turn style latches on either side and 100XR has on turn latch in the middle. Soft toppers are way less expensive but, I've heard mixed reviews on them. For my set-up, I felt a hard shell was more suited.

Didn't think about under bed rail side caps. How's the seal directly under the shell?

Besides all the things mentioned in the OP, I would pre-wire the truck for the brake and dome lights. The Leer dealers do it the easy way, and just tap into the truck's wiring at the tail light.

Leer sells a separate kit, that has a pass-through harness for the 7-pin trailer connector. (No tapping of wires.) I would buy that kit, and install it myself ahead of the cap's delivery.

I had a Diamondback and under the rails is where most of my water came in. I ran a strip of butyl inboard of the holes on top of the bed. There’s no seal in there from the factory and the holes in the bed are exposed to water spray from the inside of the fenders. Can’t hurt anything to add while I didn’t have anything on the bed. Also plugged up the front corners with butyl to try to seal that off as well.

Haven’t tested my waterproofing since the topper was only on for a couple days before it had to go back to the factory for paint cracking repair…
